Train the Trainer
  • Each system will receive two resource binders
  • containing
  • A copy of this PowerPoint? presentation

  • The Power Point and EM/TCM will be available
  • on the DOE website by February 18, 2005

CRCT Overview
  • Students enrolled in grades 1 through 8 will take
    the
  • CRCT.
  • Tests are based on the states QCC.
  • Tests measure the knowledge and skills taught in
    Georgia classrooms.
  • Students are assessed on how well they have
    learned the QCC content standards for their
    grades.
  • Tests will contain QCC (scored) and GPS
    (unscored) field test questions.

Field Test Questions
  • Unscored field test questions will appear in all
    content areas and grades.
  • Field test questions will help us create a pool
    of Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) items for
    future administrations.

Test Results
  • Individual, class, system, and state test results
    will be provided to systems and schools.
  • This information is used to diagnose individual
    students strengths and weaknesses and to gauge
    the quality of education throughout Georgia.

Content Areas
  • Each content area is divided into two sections.

CRCT Development
  • CRCT for the 2004 2005 School Year
  • Utilizes existing secure items.
  • New items were written, then reviewed by Georgia
    educators in August and September 2004.
  • New items are embedded and will be field tested
    in the spring operational exam.
  • Multiple forms will be given at each grade.

Test Administration
  • Main Administration
  • Systems identify an 8-day administration window
    within the complete testing window (April 4
    through May 4) in which to administer exams.  
  • Makeup Administration
  • All students who are absent may take a makeup
    test within the 8-day administration time period
    only.
  • Students enrolled in grades 3 and 5 who are
    absent during the 8-day administration window may
    take a makeup test for Reading (Grades 3 and 5)
    and Math (Grade 5) at any time during the
    complete testing window (April 4 through May 4).

Test Administration
  • Retest Administration
  • Students enrolled in promotion/retention grades
    who perform at Level 1 (in one or more
    promotion/retention content areas) are offered a
    retest opportunity. The 2005 retest window is May
    31st through July 29th. Systems will select 5
    consecutive days for the retest.
  • Exception Administration
  • Students enrolled in promotion/retention grades
    who receive a Level 1 score in a
    promotion/retention content area and miss the
    scheduled retest window at their respective
    systems may test during the retest administration
    window May 31st to July 29th. All requests for
    exception testing must be approved through the
    DOE.

Psychoed Programs
  • Main Administration
  • Psychoed Programs identify an 8-day
    administration window within the complete
    testing window (April 4 through May 4) in which
    to administer exams.  
  • Psychoed Programs will receive their testing
    materials from their respective home schools.
  • Makeup Administration
  • All students who are absent may take a makeup
    test within the 8-day administration time period
    only.

  • Retest Administration
  • Psychoed Program students enrolled in
    promotion/retention grades who perform at level 1
    (in one or more content areas) will be offered a
    retest opportunity. The home school will provide
    information on where the Psychoed Program
    students shall retest.
  • Exception Administration
  • Students enrolled in promotion/retention grades
    who receive a Level 1 score in a
    promotion/retention content area and miss the
    scheduled retest window at their respective
    systems may test during the exception retest
    administration window May 31st to July 29th.
    All requests for exception testing must be
    approved through the DOE.

Coding - Psychoed Programs
  • In order to provide results for Psychoed
    Programs, an identifier code of 1-24 needs to be
    bubbled in the last two columns (from the left)
    under the State Directed Use Only box for all
    students being served at these locations.
  • Information is also included in the TCM and EM.

Shipments
  • Test materials will be shipped to the systems
    two weeks prior to testing.
  • Shipping schedules will be adjusted to
    reflect spring breaks.

Order Additional Materials
  • School Test Coordinators contact System Test
    Coordinators for additional materials.
  • System Test Coordinators request additional
    materials by faxing the Fax Me form to
    763-268-3004.
  • Orders faxed and received by 1000 AM EST will
    ship on the same day.

  • Small Group Test Administration Kits for grades
    3-8
  • Each system will receive an additional 5 of the
    SGTA of one form per grade.

Materials Control
  • Materials are to be locked up each day of
    testing.
  • Pre-ID barcode labels
  • Shipped separately, will arrive around the same
    time as test materials.
  • System test coordinators to organize labels by
    school and distribute them to schools and
    psychoed programs.
  • Test materials and ID barcode labels may be
    applied prior to the first day of testing.

Materials Control
  • If a printed label is received for a student
    enrolled at the time of testing, it must be used.
  • If the barcode label information is not correct,
    notify the School Test Coordinator.
  • Do not tear, mark, mutilate, or remove the label.
  • The barcode information will override
    hand-bubbled information.
  • If a student is new to the system (without a bar
    code), the student demographic information must
    be completed.

More about Barcodes
  • If a barcode has not been applied to the student
    answer document and the answer document is
    unused, the system may destroy the barcode.
  • If a barcode is applied to a student answer
    document and the student is absent for the entire
    test window or is no longer enrolled, the system
    should mark the answer document VOID and return
    it with the nonscorables.

  • If answers have been gridded, transcribe student
    answers demographics onto a replacement
    booklet. Write VOID over the original booklet and
    return VOID booklet with nonscorable materials.
  • If answers have NOT been gridded in the test
    booklet, write VOID over the original test
    booklet and return the VOID test booklet with the
    nonscorable materials.
  • If answers have been gridded, transcribe student
    answers onto a replacement answer document. Write
    VOID over the original answer document and return
    VOID answer document with nonscorable materials
  • If answers have NOT been gridded, write VOID over

Prepare theSetting
  • Materials are to be returned to School Test
    Coordinator and locked up at the end of each
    testing day.
  • Remove or cover instructional materials that may
    prompt student responses i.e. posters, etc.
  • Arrange seating to promote individual work.
  • Post a sign on the outside of the classroom door
    Testing Do Not Disturb.
  • Arrange for additional proctors (1 proctor
    recommended for every 20 students mandatory when
    there are gt 30 students).

Administration
  • Students take one content area per day.
  • Both sections from a single content area are to
    be administered on the same day.
  • Grades 1 and 2 students take stretch breaks or
    lunch break.
  • Grades 3 through 8 students take stretch breaks.

  • For all grades and all content areas
  • Preparation for testing- Approximately 10 minutes
  • Section one- Approximately 60 minutes
  • Break- Approximately 10 minutes
  • Section two- Approximately 60 minutes

Testing Irregularities
  • Any test administration irregularities must be
    reported by examiners to school test
    coordinators.
  • School test coordinator then makes a decision if
    the irregularity is severe enough to be reported
    to system test coordinator.
  • System test coordinator contacts GADOE CRCT
    Program Manager immediately for direction.
  • If necessary, STC follows instructions to
    invalidate test and complete irregularity form to
    FAX to GADOE.

Answer Document Changes
  • The PTNA bubble should only be filled by the
    examiner if a student cannot or will not take a
    test.
  • If a student answers even one question on any
    section of the test, PTNA should not be bubbled.
    Answering lt10 items defaults to a DNA.
  • Standard accommodations bubble eliminated.
  • LEP-M SRC 19.

Post Test Test Examiner
  • Post test, the Test Examiner shall
  • Collect all test materials daily, including
    scratch paper.
  • Where applicable, verify that the identifying
    information is correctly gridded.
  • If instructed by the System Test Coordinator,
    complete Section 11 (Local Optional Coding).
  • Complete For Teacher Use Only section- of
    demographic page (back page).

Post Test Test Examiner
  • Post test the Test Examiner shall
  • Complete the Class Header Sheet
  • Return all test materials, scratch paper,
    manuals, etc. to the School Test Coordinator

Post Test School Test Coordinator
  • Post test the School Test Coordinator shall
  • Verify that Test Examiners have returned all of
    the test materials.
  • Complete the School Security Checklist. Place one
    copy in Return Envelope and keep other copy for
    the schools records.
  • Complete Principals Certification Form for each
    grade tested.
  • Complete a Building Header sheet.

Post Test School Test Coordinator
  • Post test the School Test Coordinator shall
  • Destroy all scratch paper.
  • Separate scorable materials from other test
    materials.
  • Verify that a Class Header Sheet is completed for
    each class.
  • Arrange all scorable documents with the student
    name face-up.
  • Secure each classrooms scorable materials
    Class Header Sheet together with paper band.

Packing Scorables at the School
  • Pack scorable materials in original shipping
    boxes.
  • Follow packing instructions listed in the TCM.

Packing NON-Scorables at the School
  • Pack nonscorable materials in original shipping
    boxes.
  • Follow packing directions listed in the TCM.

Schools Return NON-Scorable Materials
  • All non-scorable materials shall be returned to
    the System Test Coordinator within one week of
    the last day of the test administration window
    most systems have schools return scorable and
    nonscorables at the same time.

Post Test System Test Coordinator
  • Post test the System Test Coordinator shall
  • Verify that the School Test Coordinators have
    returned all the materials.
  • Reuse original shipping cartons.

Systems Returning Scorable Materials
  • All materials are to be returned to Riverside
  • Publishing
  • Use one BLUE label per box.
  • Identify sequence of boxes for each school on
    each shipping label (box __ of __ ).
  • The lowest box number for each school should
    contain the Building Header sheet.
  • Securely seal all boxes.

Systems Returning Scorable Materials
  • Systems testing during the early administration
    window must have scorable materials packed for
    pick-up on Wednesday, April 20th.
  • For all other testing windows, systems must have
    scorable materials picked up five business days
    after the close of the testing window.
  • Testing window ends Wednesday, May 4th
  • Scorable materials picked up Wednesday,
    May 11th

Systems Returning NON-Scorables
  • Pack System overage materials beginning in Box 1.
  • Pack School non-scorable materials in subsequent
    boxes.
  • Use PINK colored labels.
  • Use original shipping cartons.

Test Results
  • A representative sample of tests have to be
    analyzed before results can be released. For this
    reason, systems testing earlier may not receive
    results in two weeks.
  • Once the early return analyses have been
    completed, all other systems will get their
    results in two weeks.
