Community College System Is the Primary Point of
Entry for All Students
  • 61 of high school graduates entered
    postsecondary education via the Florida Community
    College System.
  • 76 of lower division Pell grant recipients in
    public education in the state are in the FCCS.
  • Both the number and percentage of African
    American and Hispanic students continues to
    increase in both regular classes and dual
    enrollment courses.
  • In 2000-01, the Florida Community College System
    served 79 of all minority students enrolled in
    public lower division classes.

Increasing the Supply of Teachers
  • Educator Preparation Institutes may be created
    to provide any or all of the following
  • Professional development opportunities to assist
    teachers in improving classroom instruction and
    in meeting certification and/or recertification
    requirements
  • Instruction to assist potential and existing
    substitute teachers in performing their duties
  • Instruction to assist paraprofessionals in
    meeting education and training requirements for
    No Child Left Behind
  • Instruction for Bachelors degree holders to
    become certified teachers through
    competency-based certification programs
  • Currently, 25 Florida community colleges have
    received approval or provisional approval as
    Educator Preparation Institutes

  • The consortium is a powerful network of voluntary
    institutional cooperation, coordination and
    collaboration led by a state level staff.

    Residents Now) at Tallahassee Community College
    Gadsden LEARN is a new program designed to
    improve the academic and funding college
    scholarships for the countys residents.

    Community College Godby High School students
    can earn an AA degree from TCC by the time they

  • The Valencia Upward Bound program Upward Bound
    is open to 25 students within each high school it
    serves in Orange and Osceola Counties.
    Participants receive instruction in literature,
    composition, humanities, mathematics, science,

    The College Academy at Broward Community
    College, in collaboration with students, parents,
    and Broward Community College, endeavors to
    provide an educational bridge from high school to

    Indian River Community College CALC is a high
    school for the digital age, targeting middle
    majority high school juniors and seniors
    interested in a technology-rich educational

    unique high-tech environment that deepens student
