  • According to the Oxford Advanced Learners
    Dictionary, to give means to cause somebody to
    receive, hold, have or own something
  • You can give anything you want to give to
    anybody.
  • Be that as it may, some people need our giving
    more than others.

What is Ubuntu?
  • Ubuntu is a Zulu word meaning human
    heartedness.
  • Ubuntu is a social and spiritual philosophy
    serving as a framework for African society.
  • The essential meaning of Ubuntu can be conveyed
    using the Zulu maxim umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu
    meaning in essence, a person is a person through
    other persons.

What do the Stats Tell Us?
  • There is a great need for help in various sectors
    of society. For example
  • There is a very high unemployment rate in SA
    which means that many people are in dire straits.
    Poverty is real!
  • People with severe physical and mental
    disabilities need serious help.
  • The high level of illiteracy requires a concerted
    attention from all members of society.
  • These adverse conditions can lead to other
    societal problems such as crime, violence, moral
    degeneration and substance abuse.

What Can You Do To Help?
  • Local charity organizations are always looking
    for volunteers who can help them do the
    following
  • Take care of the sick e.g. Hospice
  • Deliver food parcels to the needy e.g. Lebone
    House NGO
  • Reach out to street children and young
    delinquents e.g. NICRO
  • You can also become a buddy in youth programmes
    such as Love-Life and Take 5.
  • Additionally, you can donate money, food and
    clothes to some of the aid organizations.
