  • Industry Search (I.S.) started as a simple
    exhibit aimed at
  • evaluating the local industrial capability
    in preparation for the
  • Partner Country Presentation in Hannover
    Messe 98 in
  • Germany
  • It was participated in by 22 individual
    companies, including
  • Toyota, and 6 trade associations (ACAPP,
    EIAPI, PALSCON,
  • PRIA, PHIL. TIRE RETREADERS, SEIFI).
  • 1998
  • Philippines won the bid as Partner Country in
    Hannover Messe
  • 98, the worlds biggest industrial trade
    fair. About 80
  • Philippine companies joined Partner
    Philippines as it
  • presented the centennial celebration of
    industries.

  • 1999
  • I.S. subsequently grew into a full-scale
    Reverse Trade Fair
  • featuring three (3) important industrial
    sectors namely
  • electronics, automotive parts and industrial
    machinery.
  • 2000
  • I.S. evolved as a 2-in-1 trade event
  • which featured the Philippine Reverse
  • Trade Fair and the Philippine
  • Subcontracting Fair for Industrial
  • Goods and Services.

  • CITEM and IIR Exhibitions Phils tied-up for
  • the holding of Industry Search,
  • PhilTRONICS and Enviro-Tech
  • Gains from the Tie-up
  • - Better timing for the exhibition
  • - Increased visitor attendance ( with
    over 7,500 visitors
  • for both shows)
  • - Captive markets for exhibitors ( with
    combined
  • participation of over 400
    exhibitors from 18 countries)
  • - Wider promotional mileage
  • 2002
  • CITEMs plan to continue the tie-up did not
    materialize
  • due to policy differences with IIR
  • I.S was cancelled as it was too late to

RATIONALE
  • Aims to provide a venue for information exchange
    on strategic
  • material sourcing and procurement programs
    between
  • the MNCs, OEMs, large corporations and
    the SMEs
  • Intends to spur domestic direct investments as a
    means towards generating indirect exports
  • Hopes to help mitigate the dominance of imported
    products in the local market and encourage
    competitiveness among local manu-
  • facturers and, eventually, spur the export
    industry as well.

To achieve this, we need to help SME vendors
/suppliers improve their manufacturing
capabilities and to acquaint them with
procurement programs enabling them to meet the
buyers procurement requirements

MINI-BUYERS VILLAGE
A highlight of the B2B forum, featuring parts and
services in buyers procurement programs and will
serve as an opportunity for them to meet and
explore business relations with the local
SMEs. A special area shall also be dedicated for
one-on-one business meetings between the
MNCs/OEMs/large corporations and the
exhibitor-suppliers.
