Team Reminders What They Do

• Allow others on your team the option to see
  non-private reminders you have created.
• Allows you the option to see non-private
  reminders that others on your team have created.

Team Reminders What They Dont Do

• Does not allow others on your team to edit,
  delete, or filter the view of reminders that you
  have created.
• Does not allow you to edit, delete, or filter the
  view of reminders that others on your team have
  created.
• Does not allow you to see reminders marked
  private that other members of your team have
  created.

Click on Customize.
Not everyone has access to teams in Star
Panel. To find out if you have access to teams,
do the following
In the case of Reminders, they can be used to
share viewing of reminders among members on a
team.
Teams in Star Panel are simply lists of
users. They are used to assign special functions
in Star Panel to a sub-set of users.

If you have access to teams, you can create a
team by clicking on Teams here.
See if you have Teams listed under Customize.
If you dont, its not a problem. You simply
need to contact your EMR Specialist or the Help
Desk to get that setup for you.

Now, click on Create a team here.

We recommend that you stay away from using
punctuation in your team name. Enter the name of
your team and hit OK.

To do that, click on the name of the team that
you want to add members to.
The names of the teams you have access to,
including the one you have just created, will be
located across the top.
Now you are ready to start building your team by
adding Star Panel users as members of the team.

Star Panel opens up the team in the frame below
and allows you to begin entering names. Simply
enter in the name or user id of the person you
want to add to the team, and hit enter.

Click on Customize.
Now that you have created a team, heres how you
use it to activate Team Reminders.

Click on Preferences.

In the Preferences screen, scroll to the bottom
and click on Turn on/off reminder pop-ups by
team.

Star Panel displays the teams that you have
access to. Click on the name of the team
containing the users who you want to share
reminders with.

Youll know that team reminders are turned on
when you get this Turn off option.

How They Work

The next slides assume that you already have an
understanding of how normal reminders in Star
Panel work. If you dont have that knowledge,
you should first review the Reminders tutorial in
the Online Tutorials section of the EMR Website.

• Lets say that you have a team of 3 people
• Marvin (user id palm7pd)
• Forest (user id tempw1s)
• Barbie (user id tempu3g)
• They want to share their reminders with each
  other.

A reminder which he has marked private (Other
than the text of the reminder, there is really
nothing in this view that tells you that its
private. Youll just have to take our word for
it).
An urgent non-private reminder.
First lets look at Forests reminders view
BEFORE he has set up Team Reminders. See here
that he has created 3 reminders.
A non-private reminder with no urgency.

Notice that, for both of these team reminders,
Forest doesnt have the option to edit or delete
them.
Now, lets look at Forests reminders view AFTER
he has set up Team Reminders. He now has two
additional reminders showing up in his view
And a reminder created by Marvin (palm7pd)
There is also not an option anywhere to clear the
shared reminders from the view. The only way to
clear a single reminder from the view is for the
person who created it to delete it or make it
private. Alternatively, you can remove all team
reminders from your view by going back to
preferences and turning them back off.

Now, lets click on the MRN of a patient who has
a team reminder created for them.

Just like in normal reminders, a pop-up is
displayed when we go to the patients chart.
This will occur on all team reminders as long as
you have reminder pop-ups by team turned on in
your preferences.

One final tip Since team reminders can only
be deleted by the person who originally created
them, its probably a good idea for everyone on
your team to get in the habit of setting
expiration dates on their reminders when they
create them. That should cut down on the amount
of times you have to go to a team member to ask
them to delete a reminder that is no longer
relevant.
