• A surrogate mother is a woman who agrees to carry
  someone else's baby. She becomes pregnant using
  In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Technique.
• The surrogate mother carries the baby to term and
  gives birth, and the baby is released from the
  hospital to its intended parents.

• The worlds first gestational surrogacy involved
  the Intended Mothers mother who carried her own
  grandchild because her daughter did not have a
  uterus.

• But now-a-days the major problem is most people
  do not have such a relative and need to rely upon
  an unrelated gestational carrier.
• Occasionally, a close friend offers to be a
  surrogate.

Basic Requirements to be a Surrogate Mother

• A candidate must be in good health.
• Have had an uncomplicated pregnancy and given
  birth to at least one child of her own at full
  term, preferably without a cesarean section.
• The surrogate mothers home environment and
  family situation have to be assessed for
  stability and support.
• Her ability to separate emotionally from the
  future child as well as her openness to
  undergoing medical procedures, including
  pregnancy termination, upon the Intended Parents
  request.
