  • The holidays can be stressful, but getting your
home in tip-top shape for guests doesnt have to
    be.

Dividing tasks into different segments over the
course of a few days or a week will help make
them more manageable.
Follow our quick tips for getting your home
spick-and-span in time for your holiday guests.
3
  • The last thing you want is an avalanche of
boxes, household items, or toys spilling out of
your closet when you go to hang up your guests
    coats.
  • Take the time to tidy up your coat closet,
stocking it with plenty of hangers and making
plenty of room for coats, purses, and umbrellas.
  • If you dont have a coat closet, designate a
particular area or room for your guests things.

4
  • Weve all been there Youre a guest in someones
home, youve just washed your hands in the
bathroom, and theres nothing in sight to dry
your hands withexcept a still-damp bath towel
    slung over the towel rack.
  • Dont leave your guests in this awkward
    predicament!
  • Make sure your bathroom is stocked with hand
towels clearly intended for guests, as well as
tissue paper, soap, lotion, and (for overnight
    guests) other essential toiletries.

5
  • Theres little point in going to the trouble of
pulling out Grandmas antique silverware if its
    spotted or tarnished.
  • If your good silverware hasnt been used in a
while, give it a quick shine-up before your
    guests arrive.

All-Natural Tip The inside of a banana peel
removes spots and tarnish in a jiff. Just wipe
the inside of the peel across silverware, or put
peels inside of a blender and use the puree to
buff silver.
6
  • An untidy appearance around your entryway doesnt
make the best impression. Worse, clutter and
debris around your homes entrance could present
    tripping hazards for guests.
  • Outside, make sure to clear out any clutter or
debris from trees and shrubs from your entryway,
and give the area a good sweeping.
  • If its really dusty or dirty, hosing the area
off a couple days before your guests arrive is a
    good idea.

7
  • Theres no getting around it washing windows and
floors requires some elbow grease. I dont do
windows wont cut it when guests are on their
    way.
  • Make sure floors are freshly washed/vacuumed and
that windows are squeaky clean (at least the ones
    your guests will see).
  • All-Natural Tips A cloth soaked in tea is great
for cleaning hardwood floors. A vinegar and water
    solution gets windows super clean.

8
  • Nothing will kill guests appetites more quickly
than the sight of a dirty kitchen. Be sure to do
a deep cleaning of the stove top, oven, hood
range, microwave, fridge, floors, and sink before
    your guests arrival.
  • Two words Dirty toilet. You expect it at a gas
station, but not as an invited guest at someones
    home.
  • It takes work, but a clean toilet, sink, mirror,
and bathroom floor are musts when guests are
    coming.

9

all this work, consider hiring a house cleaning
