What Factors Influence Estimation Of Strength Of
Cement When You Use Testing Instruments?
While using cement testing instruments, there are
certain factors that influence estimation of
cement strength. In this article, you will get to
know about these factors in detail.
3
  • Type of cement

Type of cement is top factor that helps in
estimating strength of the cement. Concrete
prepared from high alumina cement, blended
cements, and supersuplphated cement could be
different.
4
  • Cement content

Content of the cement influence the calibration,
but any mistake in the estimation of strength can
lead to change in cement content that is unlikely
to exceed 10. Content estimation needs to be
accurate as higher cement contents offer
underestimate of strength and lower contents
offer overestimate of strength.
5
  • Aggregate type

Usual hard aggregates, including gravels, crushed
stones offer similar correlations. The lighter or
soft aggregates with unique properties require
special calibrations.
Type of surface
Measurement of hardness of concrete is useful
when it is obtained on a close texture concrete.
6
  • Moisture conditions of the surface

Carbonation
By testing carbonated concrete, you can get an
overestimate of strength that can exceed by 50.
There is a possibility to quantify this influence
by eliminating carbonated layer and comparing the
corresponding indices of hardness.
Wet surface increases the underestimation of
concrete strength if the calibration was acquired
under dry conditions.
Age of concrete
Generally a concrete aged from 14 days to 2
months considered as good for construction. If a
concrete age is over 3 months, it is unreliable
and may be unfit for architectural projects.
7
  • Compaction

Testing of concrete hardness is usually
unsuitable for determining quality variations
that are caused by distinct degrees of compaction.
Other factors
The list of other factors that influence
estimation of cement strength includes-
slenderness of tested structural member,
effective mass of tested concrete, state of
stress of tested concrete, proximity of test
area, etc.

It is important to operate cement testing
instruments in right way in order to achieve
correct ratings. Just make sure your instruments
are made of high grade materials, so that you can
use them for years. Many manufacturing units are
supplying these instruments across the globe you
can book your order for cement testing equipments
and get the delivery at your doorstep. Share and
spread the word between your contacts! Don't
forget to review this story.
