PKMG LAW CHAMBERS
Civil litigation lawyers owe their existence to
the Roman law Corpus Juris Civilis (Body of
Civil Law) which forms the foundation and the
entire basis of Civil law. It was created by
Emperor Justinian I who rules ancient Rome from
527 A.D. to 565 A.D. Civil law is non-criminal
law and also excludes commercial laws, labour
laws, etc.

An important part of civil litigation is previous
cases. References to previous cases are
considered very important while deciding an
outcome as judges heavily rely on pre-established
norms. This is due to varied and uncertain nature
of the civil cases. The sheer diversity of the
cases which include even trivial matters makes it
difficult to have a set standard to account for
all the different possible situations arising
unlike criminal cases which are mostly accounted
for.

Such off the court solutions are mostly suggested
by lawyers in case of family matters, etc. Civil
law lawyers can charge you per hour or per court
standing basis. Another way of charging is on the
percentage basis. In this the lawyer wont charge
you right away and will take a specified
pre-decided percentage from the compensation you
get on winning a case. This is also
called contingency. It is advisable to decide
before hand as to what percentage they are going
to charge.
