Stone flooring For instance, stone flooring has
been around since time immemorial stone floors
create a feeling of total luxury wherever it is
used. With a good floor installation, stone
flooring can be used to create a certain mood
that is filled with formality or relaxation which
depends on the type of stone that has been used.
Marble flooring represents the most formal type
of stone floors while flagstone, on the other
hand, represents the informal look. The natural
color variation and patterns make stone flooring
a beautiful and durable choice.

Terrazzo flooring Terrazzo flooring is formed
using chips from marble and other stones that
become embedded in concrete after which the
surface if polished highly to give a high sheen.
One great advantage of terrazzo flooring is the
fact that it is not only beautiful but also easy
to maintain.

Terracotta Clay has been used as a material for
floor tiles for a long period of time today,
with the advancement of technology clay is
processed in different ways to form different
categories of tiles. Terra cotta is clay that has
been fired but it not colored, you will more
often than not find it used in garden pots where
it is left unglazed. There may be different
colors depending on the mineral content of the
soil even though orange is the typical cast.
Since terra cotta tiles can absorb liquids it has
to get treated if it will be used indoors.

Ceramic tiles Ceramic flooring employs tiles
that are made from clay that has been fired in a
kiln after which a colored glaze is added and the
tile is fired again so as to make the colors more
vivid. Ceramic flooring can be slippery and, as a
result, an abrasive is normally added before they
are used in floor installation. Any unglazed
ceramic tiles are known as quarry tiles and they
are also available ceramic flooring stains
easily which is why they are sealed before they
are used for flooring.

Porcelain tiles Porcelain flooring refers to
clay tiles which have been fired at extremely
high temperatures the result is a dense tile
that is totally resistant to moisture. Porcelain
flooring tiles are normally rated in terms of
hardness so that group I can be used in light
traffic areas while group V is used high traffic
areas. With all these varieties, the best thing
is to talk to your flooring company for advice on
an ideal floor installation.
