  • Impact crusher is a process of impact size
    reduction which incorporates the striking to
    pulverized material. There are three primary
    types of impact crushers. They are
  • Vertical shaft impactors (VSI)
  • Cage mill pulverizers and
  • Horizontal shaft impactors(HSI)
  • Every impactor may be designated further as
    primary, secondary rotor crushers and tertiary,
    quaternary crushers. Depending on the processing
    stages and the equipment that is being used, the
    particular designation is chosen.

All the crushers are engineered for their
maximum feeding sizes, their total capacities and
the target output sizes. The selection of crusher
on this criterion alone is only half the task.
The evolution of complete process to maximize the
production and operating for low costs is mainly
required for every project of size reduction.

Working Principle Of An Impact Crusher
The base working principle of impact crusher is
that the force acting on or between two surfaces
towards one another in order to crush the
material placed in between them is compression.
There are two variations in impact crushing. They
are dynamic and gravity.
Common example for gravity impact would be
dropping a rock on a steel plate. Gravity impact
is referred as a material which is dropped into a
rotor which is turning rapidly. Here an impeller
or hammer would smash the rotor. Materials can be
reduced by rubbing. This process is called
attrition crushing. It is primarily a grinding
method. When it is required to use two three
combinations of principles for a crusher, then
shear crushing is used which is accomplished by
breaking the cleaving across or along the lines.
Rock's hardness is measured for the selection of
crusher's size during engineering.
