Disadvantages of digital printing

• Fixed cost of a single copy regardless of the
  number of copies. Thus, it is wise to
  use digital printing when printing small number
  of copies.
• The high cost of consumables used for digital
  printing.
• The finished product does not have a coating
  added which acts to extend the longevity
  of the product and protect it from marking and
  scuffing. 
• Digital printing using toners can mean that
  there is some cracking when a job is
  creased/folded.
• Litho printing will reproduce tints, gradients
  and large solid areas of colour better
  than digital printing.
