5 YEARS DOCTOR OF MEDICINE/MD PROGRAM

• The MD (Doctor of Medicine) is a degree course of
  5.5 years wherein the first 1.5 years is of the
  Pre-Medicals, followed by 2 years of Basic
  Sciences and the last 2 years is of the Clinical
  Rotations where the student can get a golden
  opportunity to study in the US .

Basic Sciences program

• Basic Sciences program is designed to meet the
  health care needs of the society.
• Basic Medical Science program duration is of two
  years and with instructions at WUB campus in
  Barbados.
• During 5 trimesters, students will be introduced
  to fundamental knowledge and skills of
  Preclinical Medicine and USMLE Step I Course.
• The core subjects taught here are Physiology,
  Biochemistry, Medical Pathology and Anatomy.

Pre Medical Courses

• Pre-medical
• To make students in parallel with the US
  curriculum, the pre-medical program is introduced
  to students for obtaining 120 credits that they
  lack to qualify for medical schools.

• Pre Medical Definition
• Pre-medical program is a qualifying program for
  students who have completed their 12 years of
  schooling and lack 120 credits for entering into
  medical school.
• It contains subjects of basic sciences such as,
  Physics, Chemistry , Mathematics and English
  required for over-all development of the
  candidate.

• Pre-medical would also include introduction to
  medical sciences such as, advanced biology,
  biochemistry and
• community medicine which would be followed on in
  the medical program providing the students a head
  start for their USMLE preparation.

Eligibility for MBBS Admissions in Caribbean

• Washington University of Barbados provides an MD
  program of both 5.5 years and 4 years. 5.5 years
  program includes the students who are entering a
  medical school in WUB without any bachelor
  degree.
• The students holding an Bachelor degree in
  science can directly enter the 4 years MD Program.
