  • The Republic Indian Notes went through a
    dramatic transformation after India gained
    independence.
  • The government of India introduced its paper
    currency and replaced the British Indian currency
    with an Indian one, featuring Lion Capital of
    Ashoka.
  • Denominations of Rs 5000 and 10,000 were
    introduced in 1938, but they slowly were taken
    out in the year 1946. However, they were
    reintroduced in 1954 but finally were demonetized
    in 1978.

    of 10 rupee notes and 100 rupee notes were
    introduced.
