1
Are Indian Immigrants the Most Successful Group
in the World?
Wherever you go across the world, India and
Indians have evoked some interesting reactions.
There are not just one or two but various and
polarizing differing opinions when it comes to
Indians. Some see Indians as nerdy but brilliant
software wizards on the likes of Sunder Pichai
and Satya Nadella. Some see Indians as body
shopped immigrants who are out to steal their
jobs and reduce the average wages, and yet others
see Indians as the inventors of exotic
traditional practices such as yoga and
worshipping of cows. Indians are the largest
group of Immigrants in the world According to a
survey about Immigrants In The World conducted by
United Nations Department of Economic and Social
Affairs. Indians are the largest group of
immigrants in the world with 15.6 million
immigrants of Indian origin. Indians are also the
largest group of international students to
universities in the US along with China, and
Indian students pursuing abroad education are
the biggest beneficiaries of the Erasmus
scholarships according to the EU
ambassador. Successful Indian Immigrants in the
USA The Indian diaspora has slowly but surely
earned the respect of the rest of the world. From
being reviled as curry-eaters and
cow-worshippers, Indians are now respected as
high achieving intelligent people who contribute
much to the economic and social framework of the
country they have adopted. Many Indians are in
positions of leadership in various governmental
and non-governmental organizations in countries
such as USA and Canada. Kamala Harris, who was
born to Indian parents in the USA, is a
successful and highly respected senator from
Washington State, USA and is already being seen
as a likely contender for US presidency in 2020.

unlocking her potential when she came to the US

companies in the world, Microsoft, and Google are
