Italian Fine Dining Options

  • Contrary to popular belief, Italian cuisine is a
    very varied regional specialty. Although
generally associated with pasta and pizza, there
    are actually tremendous regional differences
between the north and the south of the Italian
peninsula as ingredients and dishes vary by
    region.

3
  • In addition, these cuisines have developed
through centuries of social and political
changes. Still, the attraction of Italian
delicacies is its simplicity but abundance of
taste achieved from the fine quality of
    ingredients.

4
  • A typical ingredients of any Italian meal are
tomatoes, cheese and meat sauces. In most
Singapore Italian restaurants, the best sellers
are still the standard Italian viands. There is
the carbonara, the Roman pasta dish with bacon,
the pasta con pomodoro, the most basic and
    simplest cooked pasta sauce.

5
  • For desserts, panna cota a dessert made with
gelatine, cream and milk, is still a standard
favourite second only to the tiramisu, a treat
layered around and smeared with a creamy
mascarpone mixture. Although these meals are
served in almost any Italian cuisine restaurant
in Singapore, more luxurious fine dining options
    have more sophisticated variants.

6
  • For Italian fine dining options, it is best to go
over the variety of meals in the menu. First,
there are the antipasti, the Italian appetizers.
Most fine Italian fine dining menus in Singapore
offer a wide variety of cured meats and
cheeses, bruschetta, a kind of American toasted
bread but with tomatoes and other toppings,
pickled or fried vegetables and olives. In
Singapore Italian restaurants, there is always
antipasto della casa, the house special, which
are often best-sellers from seasonal and regional
    specialities.

7
  • In any Italian fine dining menu there are also
the primi, or first dishes, which expectedly
include pasta, risotto, creamy rice or soup.
Secondi on the other hand is your meat, fish or
vegetable main dish the more popular choices of
which include pollo chicken, bistecca steak,
manzo beef, agnello lamb, arrosto roast, gamb
shrimp, salamone salmon, frutti de mare mixed
    shellfish, and frittata omelette.

8
  • These main courses are often prepared baked (al
forno), fried (fritto) or grilled (alla griglia).
To better enjoy your secondi, there are
contorni side dishes often grilled or sautéed
vegetables, green salad and potatoes. Recently
the mushroom risotto, a plateful of buttery
risotto with the goodness of mushrooms, is also
becoming a widely sought after Italian side dish.

  • Any meal is incomplete without the dessert.
Italian cuisines in Singapore usually offer a
choice among dolci menu which are usually gelato,
cakes and pies, tiramisu, cannoli, ricotta

digestion after a heavy meal. Among the popular
    digestivi are grapes (grappa), blueberries
