HOW DOES A STICK PACK MACHINE WORK?

Description:

Multilane stick pack machine is commonly used nowadays in various industries, especially for packaging powder ad liquid products. The stick pack format provided by the stick pack machine manufacturers is quite popular for products that are single serve, meant for the modern consumers who prefer product-portability, ease of use and convenience. Another such efficient packaging format being the one provided by stand pouch packing machine. Stick pack format is loved by both packing machine manufacturers as well as co-packers, because it is very efficient in packaging, and uses the plant floor space conservatively. Multilane stick pack machine is commonly used
nowadays in various industries, especially for
packaging powder ad liquid products. The stick
pack format provided by the stick pack machine
manufacturers is quite popular for products that
are single serve, meant for the modern consumers
who prefer product-portability, ease of use and
convenience. Another such efficient packaging
format being the one provided by stand pouch
packing machine.

Stick pack format is loved by both packing
machine manufacturers as well as co-packers,
because it is very efficient in packaging, and
uses the plant floor space conservatively. But
how does a stick pack machine work? The working
concept of a stick pack machine is quite similar
to that of a single lane VFFS packaging machine.
It starts with cutting a roll of film to form
multiple stick pack packages. The stick packs are
then filled with the desired product and finally
sealed, all done vertically.
4
According to the stick pack machine
manufacturers, the speed of stick pack machine
can reach up to 75 packs per minute per lane.
With a stick pack machine that could accommodate
20 lanes, a single machine can easily pack nearly
1600 stick pack packages every minute. That
converts to 26 packs per second. Heres how its
done 1. Film transport and unwind. The packaging
material used in stick packs come from a single
sheet of the film material that is rolled around
the rollstock (the core, the film material is
rolled around). The film material is positioned
to the rear of the machine, unwounded.

2. Optional printing. If the stick pack is to be
printed with date or some other detail related to
the product, the film needs to be fed around the
registration roller. This step ensures that the
position of the stamp is registered accurately in
relation to horizontal seal. 3. Film tension.
The film is passed through a set of nip roller.
This keeps an even pressure on the film material
so as to help maintain a constant tension, thus
maintaining the dancer arm in a proper operating
position. As the film is transported, the dancer
arm, moving up and down, ensures that the film
doesnt wander off.

4. Film cutting. The film is then passed to the
cutting section, which have unmotorized cutting
disk knives. The film is passed through these
cutting knives which are in constant contact with
a roller that is specially designed. The cutting
section cuts the film into individual stick
packs. 5. Stick pack forming. From there, each
cut film is passed through forming tubes. It is
specifically designed to crest and fold the film
in such a way to form stick packs.
8
6. Stick pack filling sealing. As the film
stops moving, the vertical fold is sealed by
sealer bars, one in every lane, and form a long
hollow tube. Then the horizontal sealing jaw is
used to seal the top of one stick pack, and the
bottom of another stick pack at the same time. As
it happens, the products that is to be packaged
is dropped inside the pack.
