It is a well-known fact that rice is a staple
diet in many countries. With its numerous
variety, alluring taste and aroma, rice is a
favourite of many. Various Rice Companies in
India, manufacture, process and deliver varieties
within India as well as overseas. Rich in
carbohydrates and proteins and low in fats, these
grains can complement any dish beautifully.

  • There are long-grains, medium-grains and
    short-grains varieties that are available in the
    market. Lets check out some of the interesting
    varieties of rice that might be unknown to you.
  • 1121 Basmati Being the worlds longest grain,
    1121 Basmati Rice Exporters have been selling
    basmati in India since 2008. It has its name
    engraved in Limca Book of Records for its size.
    But, that is just not it. It gives out a
    beautiful aroma after cooking and remains
    non-sticky even after it gets cooled.

  • Arborio Rice This has its origination in Italy.
    With a large size, it has a unique dot in the
    centre. This has a special characteristics as it
    absorbs the liquid while it is getting cooked.
    Its plumped up structure has a chewy centre and
    is used in various Italian dishes.
  • Black Rice This was called the forbidden rice
    which was meant for Chinese emperors. Its colour
    is due to its high level of anthocyanin, similar
    to the one found in eggplant.
  • Jasmine Rice As the name suggests, this variety
    of rice has a beautiful floral aroma. It gets
    very soft when cooked and is also sticky to
    touch.

    short grain variety whose outer husk has been
    removed but the bran layer is retained. When
    eaten it gives a chewable feeling with a nutty
    flavour.
