1
Portland Cement
2
  • Portland cement is the most commonly used grade
of cement around the world as a basic ingredient
of concrete, mortar, stucco and grout. It was
developed from different kinds of lime in England
    in the mid-nineteenth century.
  • It is a fine powder, made by heating limestone
and clay minerals in an oven to create clinker,
grinding the clinker, and adding 2-3 of mineral.
Many forms of Portland cement are available in
the market. The most commonly used cement,
referred to as standard hydraulic cement (OPC),
is gray in color, however, white Portland cement
    is also used.

3
Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag
  • In contrast to the stony grey of concrete created
with Portland cement, the near-white color of
GGBS cement permit architects to realize a
lighter color for the exposed fair-faced concrete
    finish, at no additional price.
  • To attain a lighter color finish, GGBS is
typically specific at between 50th to 70th
replacement levels, though levels as high as 85th
    are often used.

4
Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag
  • Concrete containing GGBS cement features a higher
final strength than concrete created with
Portland cement. Its a higher proportion of the
    strength-enhancing metallic element salt hydrates
(CSH) than concrete created with cement only, and
a less content of free lime, that does not
    contribute to concrete strength.
  • Concrete created with GGBS continues to achieve
strength over time and has been shown to double
its 28-day strength over periods of ten to twelve
    years.

5
Portland Pozzolana Cement
  • Portland Pozzolana Cement is commonly referred as
    PPC.
  • It is manufactured by combining Pozzolanic
    materials.
  • This cement includes OPC clinker, mineral and
    pozzolanic materials in required proportion.

6
Portland Pozzolana Cement
  • The strength of PPC is better than OPC in long
    term.
  • The hydration process is slower than OPC
resulting in low heat of hydration.
  • Therefore, it is suitable for mass concreting.
PPC is available in any specific grades.

7
Ordinary Portland Cement
  • OPC cement is factory-made by grinding a mix of
limestone and different raw materials like
argillaceous, calcareous, and mineral to a
    powder.
  • This cement is available in three types of
grades, such as OPC 33 grade, OPC 43 grade and
OPC 53 grade. OPC is the most ordinarily used
cement around the world. It has higher strength
than PPC in the initial stage.

8
Portland Slag Cement
  • Portland Slag Cement, commonly known as PSC, is
blended cement. Slag is, essentially, a
non-metallic product comprising of more than 90
glass with silicates and alumino-silicates of
    lime.
  • It has ultimate compressive strength, excellent
resistance to Chloride Sulphate attacks, and
better compatibility with all types of
admixtures. PSC can be used for Dams and other
mass concrete works, all types of residential,
    commercial and industrial projects, Pre-cast
    concrete products.
