third-generation solar cells are made from a
variety of new materials other than silicon, such
as solar inks using conventional printing press
technologies, solar dyes, and conductive
plastics. Many new generation solar cells use
plastic lenses or mirrors to concentrate sunlight
onto a very small piece of high efficiency PV
material. These PV materials are more expensive,
because very little is required. High efficiency
PV materials are becoming cost effective for use
for utilities and industries.
