In north-eastern India, the state of Sikkim is a
land of fog and secrecy. And among all the places
in Sikkim, the largest city and the capital of
state, Gangtok, is one of the most admired
tourist places in India. The colossal mountains,
beautiful water bodies, green forests, exquisite

• Pemayangtse monastery
• Around 140 km away from Gangtok, Pemayangtse
  Monastery is one of the oldest Buddhist monastery
  in Sikkim. This is the only place where monks are
  titled as ta-tshang, meaning monks of pure
  Tibetan lineage. Lama Lhatsun Chempo planned and
  built this monastery in the backdrop of
  snow-covered mountains and the architecture of
  the building is going to leave you mesmerized.
•  Kanchenjunga biosphere reserve
• The biosphere reserve in the lap of Mt.
  Kanchenjunga, the third highest peak of the
  world, is a great center for preservation of
  animals, birds, flowers, plants of the Himalayas.
  This property is home to red panda, panther,
  leopard cat, musk deer, snow leopard, Himalayan
  tahr and many more endangered animals and 127
  kinds of birds like Himalayan golden eagle, black
  eagle, Himalayan bearded vulture, Tibetan snow
  cock, etc.
•  Nathula
• One of the staples in Gangtok sightseeing list,
  Nathula is a road that works as a passage between
  India and Tibet. The view of the surrounding area
  while standing on the second highest mountain
  pass is something that cannot be explained in
  words or photographs, its something one needs to
  experience on their own.

Another popular tourist destination known for its
high mountain passes is Leh Ladakh, a district in
the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Leh is
historically and culturally related to Tibet,
influences of which can be seen though out the
district in its various Buddhist monasteries and
