  • Although court reporter profession is somehow
underrated, court reporting plays an important
role during legal proceedings. This paved way to
the increasing need for court reporting services.
In fact, the court reporting industry is
predicted to grow even more in the coming years
and will provide more jobs to county court
reporters not just in Atlanta but in the entire
    country as well.
  • During the 2008 global financial crisis, many
    countries have suffered tremendously including
the United States. In the United States alone,
roughly 5.5 more millions of people have lost
their jobs during the acute stage of the crisis
according to some reports. As the economy
stumbled, unemployment and debt increased. It was
one of the toughest moments in the U.S not just
for the elite but also for the common people.

3
  • Even when the economy has started to show signs
of recovery, finding a job was still a real
struggle. Many businesses have filed bankruptcy
which led to themass layoff of some employees. In
Atlanta, Georgia, for instance, the unemployment
rate rose from 4.8 percent to 5.0 percent during
the crisis according to the reports.

4
  • Court reporting as a thriving industry in the U.S
  • During the recovery period, court reporting
became a thriving industry in the U.S which
provided jobs to many Americans. It somehow
helped in reducing the number of unemployed
individuals in the country. But just like any
other industries, there are many challenges that
court reporters faced and one of those challenges
was the advent of technologies that could
    possibly replace human reporters.

5
  • The use of digital recording
  • Many courts in the US today are utilizing modern
technologies like digital recording to minimize
the cost and to efficiency gather information.
Perhaps, to avoid human errors also especially
when important details were omitted. Another
challenge that this industry is facing is the
fact that there are only very few people who are
interested in this kind of job. But despite that,
the court reporting industry is predicted to grow
even more in the coming years and will provide
more jobs to county court reporters not just in
Atlanta but in the entire country as well.
  • There are a few institutions in the US that
provide training for those who choose to be one
of the certified court reporters for legal
matters. This is to supply the huge demand for
court reporters in the region as well as to the
entire country. The average yearly salary for a
    court reporter is approximately 50,000.

6
  • Becoming a Court Reporter
  • People who chose to be court reporters must
immerse himself to the different legal
terminologies as this career requires good
communication skill which includes good listening
skill. Every court reporter in Atlanta must see
to it that everything he recorded or transcribed
    is clear and accurate.

7
  • Also, court reporters must equip themselves with
technological skills to develop the speed needed
to capture every detail while legal matters are
discussed inside the court. It is very crucial
for a court reporter to be very keen on capturing
all the details discussed in the courtroom so
that it will not cause any disastrous incident.
  • Before an aspirant court reporter be allowed to
work inside the court, he must undergo a
certification process both from NVRA and Board of
Court Reporting. Only certified court reporters
must be allowed practice the profession. This is
to ensure that each court reporter aspirant is
competent and is following the standards set by
    the industry.

8
  • Although court reporter profession is somehow
underrated, court reporting plays an important
role during legal proceedings. This paved way to
the increasing need for court reporting services.
In Atlanta, many court reporters are needed as
there is no enough supply for the huge demand of
court reporters. They transcribe all pieces of
information uttered by legal authorities within
the four corners of the courtroom which makes
    them undeniably smart and talented.
  • The recording of every vital information inside
the court can never be taken for granted because
it is a profession like no other. It requires
skills, perseverance, passion, and accuracy to
ensure ones success in the field of court
    reporting.
