About Kidney Stones

Urine Test

• Urine samples also help to detect kidney stones.
  Urine tests help to identify if there are certain
  minerals in your urine which is responsible for
  stone formation or if your urine lacks certain
  substances which are used to stop or fight back
  the kidney stone.

Blood Test

• Kidney blood tests are performed to check the
  uric acid and calcium levels in your blood. If
  the range is way too higher than the normal
  range, then your doctor may suggest
  further kidney stone tests like imaging to
  investigate further.

Imaging Test

• The most important diagnostic tool to detect
  kidney stones is various imaging tests. Once a
  stone is identified through any of these tests
  the doctor begins the treatment plan according to
  the size and location of the stone.

X Ray

• X rays are useful for larger stones only as minor
  or smaller stones can easily be left unnoticed.
  Thus, if you still have pain but nothing is shown
  in X-ray then your doctor may suggest advanced
  imaging tests to double check if anything is
  present.

Ultra Sound

• Sound waves are used in ultrasound to detect the
  kidney stone size and its location if present.
  Sometimes any inflammation in the kidney can also
  be mistaken for a kidney stone. Hence, a skilled
  sonographer or medical technician needs to
  perform these ultrasound tests which are
  essential.

CT Scan

• Among the CT scan, KUB (Kidney, Urethra, Bladder)
  CT scan is the most powerful diagnostic method in
  detecting any internal growth of the stone, and
  it can accurately identify even minute stone in
  these areas.
