1
Teaching music in schools has some major
benefits. Find them out!
Not all are born to become an Engineer or a
Doctor. Some are born to become musicians. These
kinds, they breathe and live music. Music cannot
be limited. It flows and takes different
directions and spreads its beauty beyond
comprehension. But the majority of schools in
India do not give priority to music education and
very few keep music classes as compulsory. This
is indeed hurting to see in a place like India
where we have a wide variety of music from
regional to classical and now we have western
music as well.
2
Why teaching music in school is important? This
is because scientifically it is established that
students develop the following good
characteristics when they learn music-
Practice Patience Team Work Creativity All
these skills are such a necessity in the 21st
century. Isnt it? So, how does music teach your
kids these important life skills? You will note
that the moment you buy a musical instrument from
the music shop, it generates a sense of curiosity
in them. They patiently learn how to play, and
then practice more.
3
After the initial training, they gel with other
music players in the team and all these phases
come together and create a creative habit. It is
not necessary that your kids must learn music to
become a successful musician, though there are
innumerable career opportunities today. But
imbibing music to the day to day routine or
learning a musical instrument will certainly
boost the overall confidence and help in
personality development of your kid. If you are

music at a young age changed their lives
forever.AR Rahman AR Rahman needs no
introduction, right? It is interesting to note
that he started his training under Master Dhanraj
when he was 11. He also worked with Malayalam
composer MK Arjunan, who was his father's friend.
And even before that, he took classical training
from his father and later learned
classical Sangeet for 9 years from Shri
Amiya Ranjan Banerjee.

Hariprasad Chaurasia Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia,
the famous flutist and Music director does not
come from a family of musicians. He started his
musical journey when he began learning the
classical vocal technique from Pandit
Rajaram.  He got tutored under Pandit Bholanath
for eight years. Later, when he was just a
teenager, he became a regular artist at AIR - All
India Radio, Cuttack in Orissa. This is what
