The client was one of the leading diversified
media companies operating in Middle East. The
project included film scanning and restoration of
physical assets dating back 1940s. Source
materials handled were 35mm and 16 mm celluloid
film. The key challenges faced by Prasad during
the execution of project included digitization
project execution at the clients site, physical
assets to remain in clients premises, Handling
11 Petabytes of data over time, Preserving Raw
Scans for Future Repurpose and political
uncertainties.

Locating Prasads team at the clients place for
digitization, installation, operation and
maintenance archival, dedicating a 150 member
team for restoration in India and Implementing
Industry acclaimed QC, QA processes at all levels
were the key solutions provided by Prasad.
Prasad installed industry acclaimed Scanity HDR
film scanner which is designed and constructed to
be used for scanning 35 mm and 16 mm positive and
negative film scanning.

Scanity film scanner provides a better film
scanning experience by offering unprecedented
speed, versatility, stability and safe film
handling. Scanity serves a variety of scanning
applications including, archive film scanning,
mass digitization, dailies, feature film
mastering, EDL/conform scanning, negative film
scanning, low resolution browsing, archive and
restoration and short-form content. Scanity
provides Audio Scanning, an option that allows
facilities to scan analog optical mono or stereo
audio tracks on 16 and 35 mm film and magnetic
tracks on 16mm film.

The deliverables were 4K .dpx, HD .dpx, 4K .j2p
and 720 .mov. Client was pleased with our project
timelines, well established QC, QA processes for
picture and sound. Scanity Reduced the
turn-around time for film scanning and
digitization by almost 33. Client was able to
attain the desired ROI without conceding both on
quality and time.
