  • Acer laptops are designed uniquely for personal
    or professional users. There are extraordinary
    features which makes it unique from other
    laptops. Secure boot is a feature designed to
    prevent malicious software unofficial media
    from loading during the boot process. Acer
    Support informs you here that boot process is
    turned on by default but can be disabled in
    UEFI/BIOS. Follow the steps provided below
    depending upon the system you are using.

  • For the Desktop user
  • Bootable media from previous versions of Windows
    may not be identified by your Windows 8 desktop.
    You can change the secure boot setting and boot
    device should be identified.
  • ? Shut down your PC completely.

  • ? Turn on the system as soon as the first logo
    screen displays, immediately press delete to
    enter the UEFI/BIOS settings.
  • ? To select Authentication use the right arrow
    key.
  • ? By highlighting Secure Boot, press Enter and
    then down arrow to choose Disabled.

  • To select the Boot Options use the right arrow
    key.
  • By highlighting launch CSM press Enter use the
    down arrow to choose Always.
  • Press Enter.
  • Some models have a Boot Filter option available
    on the menu. Change that option to Legacy if
    present.

  • Hit the F10 key to save changes and restart the
    system.
  • For the tablets user
  • Shut down your tablet.
  • Go to the BIOS.

  • Now, tap Security.
  • Tap Enter under Set Supervisor Password.
  • Create a password and press Enter. Make the
    confirmation by reentering the password and press
    Enter again.

  • Tap on the Boot tab.
  • Change the setting from Enabled to disable below
    the Secure Boot option.
  • By choosing Exit, save your settings and tap on
    Exit Saving Changes.
