  • Lisa Berzins completed her graduate education at
    the University of Kentucky which she attended
    from 1977 to 1982 and an accomplished clinical
    psychologist with expertise in multiple areas of
    her field. She also received a community activism
    award from the National Association to Advance
    Fat Acceptance in 1995.

Professional Life
Dr. Lisa Berzins is a clinical psychologist with
more than 30 years of experience in her field.
She currently runs a private practice in West
Hartford, Connecticut, where she counsels
teenagers and adults. She also works with couples
and families. Thanks to her extensive education
and experience in the field, she is qualified to
help individuals and groups deal with issues
across multiple specialties, such as eating
disorders, depression, trauma, anxiety, body
image issues, and regulation of emotions.

Lisa Berzins was born on January 30, 1956. She
has dedicated over 30 years of her life to
helping people with issues related to
self-confidence and the control of their
emotions. She is dedicated to her patients, and
according to the people who know her, she is just
as devoted to her family and friends. When she is
not working and is not engaged in her several
hobbies, she likes to hang out with her loved
ones. In 10 years, she hopes to retire to spend
time with her significant other, as well as her
friends and family.

Accomplishments of Lisa Berzins
  • Lisa Berzins has lectured and written about
    addictions, eating disorders, and
    self-compassion, including contributing two op-ed
    articles to The Hartford Courant from 1996 to
    1997. Her innovative use of the fat suit approach
    in exploring prejudices has earned her multiple
    presentations in both local and national radio,
    as well as television. In 1995, the National
    Association to Advance Fat Acceptance gave her
    the Award for Community Activism. In 1996, she
    received the Distinguished Contribution to the
    Public Interest by the Connecticut Psychological
    Association.
