variety of delicacies as Seychelles cuisine. It
is a fusion of European and Asian acquaints with
traditions of the Seychellois native residents

Seychelles cuisine is a harmonious blend of
French and British traditions with African
culture. Essential ingredients in the local
cuisine are seafood and fish. Another important
feature of the local cuisine is the abundance of
spices and seasonings. Many centuries ago French
colonists established a plantation with cinnamon,
cloves and vanilla in Seychelles. The widespread
use of spices, including very hot, makes
Seychelles cuisine unique. In addition to classic
recipes, the cuisine of this country will
surprise tourists with incredible delicacies bat
or shark.

  • Thousands of fish species inhabit the waters of
    the archipelago, so Seychelles cuisine is full of
    fish and seafood. Here are the most popular fish

Curry In Seychelles, curry is made from

Rice dishes Fish with rice or pwason ek diri is
the most common food in Seychelles. Fish is
usually cooked on the grill, and rice is boiled
with spices or steamed. Jambalaya - is a Creole
rice dish with spicy sausages and vegetables.
Sometimes sausages are replaced with seafood or
chicken.

Exotic dishes Meat is much less common - the
lack of land and the island location of
Seychelles do not contribute to cattle breeding.
Local meat dishes are quite exotic they are
bat meat stew, pork, fried in banana leaves,
chicken curry, and kebabs with local fruit sauces.

Breadfruit Breadfruit is a traditional member of
the culinary culture in Seychelles. It is used
for cooking various dishes, such as chips, mashed
potatoes or salad.

Coconut nougat Seychelles is the country of
coconuts, so it is added to many dishes. They
also make one of the most delicious desserts -
coconut nougat. It is a dessert with a
pronounced Creole flavour with nuts, chocolate or
banana.

Bananas There are about 15 species of bananas in
Seychelles, and local residents never eat it
raw. Most often they have it steamed or fried.

Soft drinks Of the soft drinks, local black tea
with vanilla is popular among tourists and
locals. Also they like coffee, coconut and
fruits fresh juices.

Alcoholic beverages From alcoholic beverages,
beer Sabrew, kalu are used - fermented
coconut juice, baka - a sufficiently strong
drink prepared from fermented sugar cane juice,
and sweet zitronel - lemon mint tincture. The
country imports a large number of good wines from
South Africa and France, as well as various types
of alcohol from around the world.
