Compared to incandescent lamps, these lights are
cost-effective, offering about 50,000 hours of
illumination with a limited amount of energy
consumed. Lower operating costs and lower heat
losses often make them an acceptable substitute
for incandescent lights. Technological advances,
moving from traditional to green lighting,
improved standards for energy efficiency, and
falling prices also have boosted demand.
