recommending that women with Allergan textured
breast implants have them removed unless they are
showing signs of developing cancer. The FDA says
that the risks associated with removing these
implants are simply too great to justify the
surgery if there is no cancer. However, if a
woman has developed BIA-ALCL, then surgery is
recommended. In general, this cancer can be
treated by removing the implants. In some cases,
a person with BIA-ALCL may need to undergo
chemotherapy and radiation treatment in order to
make a full recovery.
