FASTENERS
  • Fastener is a big hardware component that is used
almost everywhere, whether it's your door hinge
or any house hold gadget, whether it's
    automotive, machinery, building, infrastructure
or any other object that needs assembly will
surely have fasteners to attach it. What if a
single fastener breaks down or becomes loose?
  • It would definitely affect or trigger detrimental
    effects for the whole system.

ADVANTAGES OF FASTENERS
  • Mechanical fasteners in one form or another have
existed almost from the cave man days with
advances in more recent years allowing them to be
used effectively in most forms of assembly
    environments while meeting protection, quality
and cost requirements at the same time.
  • They continue to be a easy solution to assembly
    problems offering a low-risk, optimistic
communication system that can be disassembled
easily. They have no thickness restriction, are
    not environmentally sensitive and provide
confirmation of via thickness, have low
sensitivity to peel stress and have no
    significant residual stress problems.

TYPES OF FASTENERS
  • Bolts and Nuts
  • A bolt is a fastener with thread which is often
coupled with a nut. Bolts have male thread
outside, and nuts have male thread within.
  • A bolt consists of a head, a cylindrical body,
and length threads. Bolts normally have a flat
head which means the head has no grove. It
normally has the configuration to get powered by
the wrench tool on its periphery and the same
    goes for the nut.
  • Screws
  • These are the fasteners which, when fastening
into the material, create their own thread. They
usually have a head and a helical threaded shank.

  • Washers
  • These are the thin plate, disc form with a hole
in the centre and the outer diameter is usually
twice the inner diameter that is used to spread
the load on which it is fastened, such as on the
screw or nut. This can also be used in many
applications as a spacer, locking unit, wear pad
    etc.
  • Inserts
  • These are the usually strong cylindrical threads
in form often known as thread bushing and are
used for various purposes such as maintaining a
long-lasting link between the different materials
or restoring stripped threads. Usually these are
used to disperse loads from small screw diameter
    to larger inserts diameter.

  • Anchors Fasteners
  • These are commonly used in building and masonry
or stone industries, and are used for linking
    structural and non-structural material to
concrete or other materials. These are usually of
two types mechanical anchor fasteners and
    fasteners to chemical anchors.
  • Rivets
  • A rivet between two parts establishes a permanent
bond. They are a cylindrical shaft with a head at
one end and a tail at the other. Compared to
other forms of fasteners Rivets are extremely
    durable.
  • Snap Rings
  • They 're usually found in parts of car engines,
    absorber shocks.
