'Keen' - A New Home to Share your Passion
Google has unveiled a new Pinterest-like
application Keen that will allow people to
gather and share ideas, links and resources.
Keen, a web and Android app, enables users to
create a Keen-a board on whatever topic they
wish. You can define your preferred topics on
Keen, and then curate web content. From baking
delicious home-made bread to getting into birding
or typography research, you can make a "keen"
about any subject.

• When Pinterest was launched, it was simply a
  pin-board style platform where people could share
  their interests. But over the years, as Pinterest
  has evolved into a visual exploration tool and
  increasingly focused on eCommerce, which probably
  interests Google. 
• That's why Google has been seeking to repeatedly
  add Pinterest-like features and tools. The latest
  attempt by Google on this front is a new app
  called Keen, "a place to grow and share interests
  with your loved ones, and find things that will
  help make this precious life count."

Curate and Share

• Keen lets you curate your material, share your
  collection and discover new content based on what
  you've saved.
• Users may add photos and other media, invite
  friends to connect and follow the interesting
  "Keens" they discover.
• The keens can be private or public, allowing you
  to regulate what's shared. If you have set up a
  Keen for a specific subject or interest, Google
  will use its advanced search algorithms to find
  content related to what you have added,
  highlighting other items that you may want to
  include in your Keen.

Discover New Content

• You can treat 'Keen' on your own, or on behalf of
  others. The Focused team at Google collaborated
  closely with another team called People and AI
  Research (PAIR), dedicated to human-centric
  machine learning systems.
• Even if you aren't an expert on a subject, you
  can start curating a keen one and save some
  interesting links that will help.
• People can also follow the keens created by
  others, find thousands of hand-curated
  community-based lists and get alerts when new
  items are added.

Devote Time for What you Love

• The aim of keen is to give you a home for your
  interests, a place to develop and share with your
  loved one. It's not a place to go surfing for
  endless hours.
• It does seem, however, that Google is merely
  testing the waters and seeing whether users are
  interested in checking out the software. That
  almost seems like the purpose of these
  tools-useful in itself, worth checking out.
• It seems Google is actually attempting to
  incorporate the same concept as Pinterest. With
  the advantage of discovering similar content in
  its search algorithms, it may be best placed to
  create an app that meets its needs. Download the
