IPQL INTEGRATED PETROPHYSICS QUICK LOOK
TECHNIQUES
  • This course walks through how to perform a Quick
Look Log Analysis integrated with common non-log
and special log data. The process is easy to
    understand and performed real-time following
    established petrophysical principles but within
an operations quick look setting. The course
    uses simple, multi-disciplinary techniques to
quickly cross check and verify petrophysical
results on-the-fly for more objective, fact based
    operational decisions. Log based field
development studies can also be checked and
verified by these quick look techniques.
  • The diversity of inputs used affords a degree of
confidence simply not possible with conventional
quick look analysis, moving you into an
    environment of certainty, confidence and
leadership which benefits everyone downstream of
    the drill bit.

IPRC INTEGRATED PETROPHYSICS FOR RESERVOIR
CHARACTERISATION
  • This petrophysics training will teach you how to
evaluate reservoirs and quickly identify flawed
results. Robust reserves and simulation are
achieved by the logical, systematic integration
of all relevant data. A quality interpretation is
    extremely cost-effective compared with data
acquisition or development mistakes and essential
with todays complex reservoirs and data sets.
Integration will often replace the need to run
expensive, irrelevant logs, explain apparent data
conflicts and provide the correct answer faster,
strengthening your position as an operator. By
contrast, stand-alone log analysis often results
in wrong decisions and will weaken your technical
position in the eyes of your partners. This
course, evolved over 25 years of petrophysical
consulting and lectures, demonstrates how robust
answers are achieved by the logical integration
of diverse data. Pay and reserves are addressed
first by Quick Look Log Analysis and then by a
disciplined, logical process to optimize the
    interpretation of Porosity, Saturation,
Permeability and Fluid Contacts the basis of
Reserves. Low Contrast Pay, clastics and
carbonates are evaluated by straight forward
    integration techniques which outperform log
analysis with direct, plain to see results. The
integration of LWD, Wireline, Facies, Rock Types,
SCAL, NMR, Dielectric, MDTs etc is explained via
the authors PetroDB-WEB software. Finally, the
crucial Petrophysics to Geomodel checks are
    clearly set out.

IPCFR INTEGRATED PETROPHYSICS FOR CARBONATE AND
FRACTURED RESERVOIRS A ROADMAP
  • This petrophysics courses presents the Complete
    Carbonate Fracture Evaluation Recipe, from
Quick Look log analysis to full Core-Log-Test
integration. The course presents a systematic
plan of action for the acquisition and
    integration of carbonate petrophysical data,
    highlighting the problems and explaining
solutions. Data is placed in the data-flow
diagram, from drilling and LWD to well tests and
the latest hi-tech logs, to form a recipe which
provides a definitive set of results and secure
basis for decisions a template for evaluating
complex reservoirs. The course explains how the
    physical characteristics of Carbonates tight,
fractured, vuggy or permeable present log
analysis Failure Points. How to Drill, Core,
Log, Test and evaluate specifically to address
these failure points is explained via a condensed
    learning session of interleaved theory,
PetroDB-WEB IP demos, workshops and movies.
Drilling data, core, SCAL, logs, LithoScanner,
NMR, Dielectric, Sigma, Acoustic, Image-logs and
MDTs are all briefly explained and fitted
together to form the definitive solution for any
given data set. The courses powerful Excel
Petrophysical Toolbox includes all Workshops, Sw
cap.pressn calibration, a vuggy Carbonate QL LAS
evaluator, 100 Eqns, PetroDB-WEB extracts, QL
Sigma, HPV Sensitivities and calculators for
Fracture Probability and Fracture Ø HPV.

IPPETRODB INTEGRATED PETROPHYSICS WITH PETRODB
  • IPPetroDB explains and demonstrates the use of
    PetroDB with the Interactive Petrophysics
evaluation app and its web implementation. The
app is linked to a 30,000 core plug petrophysical
database, PetroDB and its functionality is
invoked using using Reservoir Types and Reservoir
Rock Types. The course serves as an introduction
on how to do a thorough, modern petrophysical
evaluation systematically and on how to use the
    PetroDB-WEB service.
  • Logs are interactively calibrated to rock-typed
hard data to create a uniquely powerful formation
evaluation tool. Calibration is performed via an
18 parameter diagnostic, interactive plot which
    selects PetroDB rock-typed equations and
parameters. PetroDB integration can also be
performed externally in Excel for ad-hoc
calibrations. The objective here is to increase
flexibility and allow the integration of one-off
exotic non-log data with logs, quantitatively. To
use all data to calibrate, guide and train logs
as appropriate and bring these exotic data to
bear on the evaluation as appropriate.
  • If data exists but fails to be involved in
calculations it has little or no impact.
  • PetroDB-WEB is being developed as a web based
    app.
  • PetroDB consists of a 30,000 rock-typed, routine
core plugs, SCAL, formation pressures and well
    tests. These have been intelligently
    cross-referenced to basic geological information,
conventional logs and modern special logs over 25
years 60 detailed reservoir technical studies.
The power of this petrophysical database is
captured during petrophysical evaluation by its
    interface with PETROPHYSICSs proprietary user
app The Vault. The app uses over 200 equations
calibrated with Reservoir and Rock Type specific
    relationships extracted from PetroDB. In-out
switchable modules use the PetroDB data which
meet selection criteria to calibrate that wells
available special logs including NMR, ADT, SSCAN
and inverted log analysis equation parameters to
    address each reservoirs specific issues.

IPUR INTEGRATED PETROPHYSICS FOR UNCONVENTIONAL
RESERVOIRS
  • This petrophysics training will teach you how to
acquire and evaluate the critical data for each
major unconventional reservoir type and to judge
if petrophysical results are fit for purpose.
The course outlines the geological, engineering
    and petrophysical characteristics and challenges
of each unconventional reservoir type including
Shale Gas, Oil Shale (LTO), Tight Gas, Coal Bed
    Methane, Geothermal, CO2 Sequestration and
Methane Hydrates. Armed with this knowledge the
    petrophysical data sets and integration
techniques required to estimate reserves and
producibility are explained. The course covers
Quick Look to full mainstream integrated methods
including how to recognise and avoid the common
    problems of petrophysical interpretation in
    unconventional reservoirs. Examples of the
common log analysis failings and the detailed,
specific procedures designed to avoid them are
explained simply and clearly. Time is allocated
in proportion to the global activity and class
    demand.

7
REP RENEWABLE ENERGY PRIMER
  • Renewable Energy is abundant and all around us.
It is energy storage and distribution which limit
its use. This 3 day forward looking course
reviews, compares and contrasts all major
renewable energy types. Each types contribution,
    setting, technology, emerging technologies,
    limitations, environmental impact, undesirables
and economics (startup costs, running costs and
payout times) are compared with a typical
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project, one liter of
diesel and an investors viability check box. The
course also investigates current and emerging
technologies in the critical areas of Energy
    storage (energy density, kwh/, kwh/kg,
batteries, fuel cells) hydro and Energy
    Distribution (central, local, off-the-grid).
Energy trend drivers, global imperatives and
    conservative future scenarios are presented.
  • The course presents an exciting, forward looking,
fact-packed review of the increasingly diverse
energy landscape evolving on our planet today,
from a seasoned energy consultant, educator and
investor. Myriad key facts are presented in the
context of what they mean for the future,
    highlighting the technological and financial
choke points that typically stymie renewable
    energy projects.

IPLAM-LR INTEGRATED PETROPHYSICS FOR LAMINATED
AND LOW RESISITIVITY RESERVOIRS
  • Shaly Sands, Laminates and Low Resistivity Low
Contrast Pay reservoirs are and always been the
primary problem with log analysis. This course
    separates and characterises these three
overlapping Reservoir Types and sets out the data
sets and petrophysical integration to best
identify and evaluate each reservoir type
accurately. Like all the authors Integrated
Petrophysics.. courses this course steps through
a logical process to identify cheap, powerful and
commonly available data which is useful to the
evaluation. It sets out the essential routine and
contingent special logs and core data to arrive
at fit-for-purpose results. Shaly Sands (SS),
Laminates (LAM) and Low Resistivity Low Contrast
(LRLC) pay reservoirs are defined, delineated and
treated separately or together, as each
petrophysical method demands. All modern logs
including NMR, Dielectric, Spectral GR and Image
logs are covered, together with established and
novel core data integration techniques. Quick
Look evaluation is included and demonstrated
    using real-time Interactive Petrophysics demos.
    Numerous Micro-practicals, videos and open
discussion sessions keep this class a memorable
    learning experience!

IPSCAL INTEGRATED PETROPHYSICS HOW TO USE
SPECIAL CORE ANALYSIS WITH MODERN LOGS
  • This course does more than calibrate your density
log with core grain density and porosity. It
starts with conventional core analysis laboratory
procedures and the essential core-log integration
techniques necessary to create compatible data
sets required for special core analysis (SCAL)
integration. It then describes lab SCAL
procedures for static and dynamic geo-models
logically, in sequence, integrating SCAL results
with powerful, modern logs to show how key
reservoir parameters are better quantified with
SCAL integration. NMR, Dielectric, Cross Dipole
sonic, 3D resistivity, Lithoscanner and MDT are
some of the logs whose output is cross-calibrated
and welded into the fabric of a true, modern,
    integrated petrophysical evaluation. These
    evaluations are robust, over-determined and
grounded in routine and special core analysis.
Integration techniques are explained in terms of
the question being asked, the physical basis of
the core-log data being used and the steps
    necessary to quantitatively integrate the
relevant SCAL with the logs and geo-models. Like
    the authors other Integrated Petrophysics
courses a logical, systematic structure is
followed which enhances understanding of the
where, why and how of modern core-log
    integration.
  • Core-Log integration has been the central topic
of the authors Imperial College Ph.D. and 30
years of consulting, reading and lecturing on
core-log integration. It is also the central
purpose of the PetroDB-WEB software, which
expands essential core-log integration to SCAL
    and modern logging tools.
