It is interesting to note that the Malaysian
coating industry serves majorly in the South-East
Asia region. More than 80 coating manufacturers
in Malaysia consist of small, medium, and
large-scale manufacturers. Out of these, only 15
manufacturers constitute about 85 of the
Malaysian painting and coating industry,
value-wise. Within the industry, too, there are
multiple segments. For example, the protective
coatings industry has grown significantly in the
last few years. The automotive coatings segment
has increased, too, while the architectural
coating industry has seen a downfall. In a
significant move, the Malaysian Paint
Manufacturers Association adopted an initiative
to stop using lead-based paints and coats by this
year-end. The top 17 players from the industry
are spearheading the movement. The commitment to
go lead-free was part of the global initiative
called the Global Alliance to Eliminate Lead

• It is one of the leading paint and coatings
  manufacturers in this part of Asia, especially
  after Colourland Paints SdnBhds merger in 2018.
  Colourland is one of the local Malaysian paint
  companies that had grown in value over its two
  decades of existence. In 2018, the x annual
  turnover of the company was more than RM 80
  million.
• Kansai Malaysia
• Though a Japanese firm, Kansai has completed over
  fifty years of operation in Malaysia. In 2015,
  Kansai joined hands with homegrown company
  Sancora Paint Industries SdnBhd to extend its
  reach within Malaysia.
• Dawn Techs 
• The Malaysia-based company is an expert producer
  of surface coating that has unique properties.
  The company was set up in 2005 and supplied
  paints, coatings, and Nano-Ceramic Coatings to
  countries like China, Japan, Singapore, Thailand,
  and Malaysia.

• Dawn Tech Sdn Bhd is a specialized maker of
  coatings that are made from paraxylylene
  derivatives called Parylene. Parylene is made by
  vapourization and polymerization of dimers or
  paraxylylene derivatives.
• Jotun Malaysia
• Jotun is a Norway-based paint and coating
  producer. However, it has three production units
  in Malaysia decorative coating unit in Shah
  Alam, powder coating unit in Shah Alam and
  protective coatings unit in Nilai. The paint from
  Jotun Malaysia was used for painting the Burj
  Khalifa in UAE and the KL Convention Centre in
  Malaysia.

• It is another top industrial paint manufacturing
  company based out of Malaysia. Armstrong Paints
  was started in 2000 and is well-recognized for
  its high-quality paint and coatings products. The
  company supplies to the automotive industry,
  electrical and appliances industry.
