Phone Interview Tips
2
Overview
  • Many firms begin the interview process by calling
a prospective employee to explain the job offer,
discover if the individual is a good fit, and
measure his or her interest in the role.
  • Make sure to have gone through a good practice
for interview before the actual one. Here are few
tips to ace any phone interview -

3
Prepare
  • Failure to adequately prepare for any interview
will almost certainly lower your chances of
    success.
  • Research the company and the position as you
would for a face-to-face interview, but keep in
mind that building rapport over the phone is more
difficult, so you really need to impress with
    what you say and know.

4
Show the Employer You're a Match
  • Make a point of matching your qualifications to
the job description so you can explain why you're
a good fit for the role.
  • Also, take a look at your resume. Know when you
last worked and what your duties were at each of
    your prior employment.

5
Enunciate
  • It's tempting to speak in a more casual tone over
the phone especially if you're at home and in a
relaxing atmosphere but it's critical that you
speak clearly and concisely to be heard.

6
Be Confident
  • You can't rely on a great suit to make a good
first impression here, so be approachable and
sell yourself via your knowledge and experience,
even if you don't have the natural chemistry that
comes with meeting someone in person.

7
Listen
  • Because you can't see your interviewer, you need
pay additional attention to make sure you
    comprehend what they're saying.
  • Remember, during a telephonic interview or
interview practice it's easy to misread what
someone is saying when you're not in the same
    room with them.

8
Have your notes to hand
  • The main benefit of doing an interview over the
phone is that you may take as many notes as you
    need.
  • Keep things neat and brief so you don't have to
waste time reading what you've written while the
interviewer waits for you to answer.

9
Practice your responses
  • This is a general interview advice that applies
equally well in this situation as it does in any
    other.
