ABOUT UNIVERSITY
T M University abbreviation of Tilak Majhi
University. Completed its Golden Jubilee in 2010
and lately completed its Diamond jubilee in 2020.
The university is popularly also known as TMBU.
Moreover, the University is called by the locals
Bhagalpur University. The universitys motto is
clear and so are the lines it works on. The motto
says Take Me From The Darkness Unto Light which
clearly shows the universitys functioning.
Therefore TMBU over six decades has developed in
many ways, it has launched many courses and has
guided scores of colleges over the years.

ABOUT UNIVERSITY
TMBU has produced scores of graduates over the
year and has proved its capacity as it sees an
overall enrolment of 15K students each year. The
university is in the urban area of Bhagalpur (the
9th largest city of Bihar). The strives to
achieve feats in research-based studies and thus
produce effective data for the state and the
nation. Furthermore, the university envisions its
elf as the cradle to nourish grads into excellent
quality entrepreneurs as well. Therefore it aims
to create entrepreneurs who will give the state
new directions and help it by large.

HISTORY
The university was established on 12th July 1960.
The name of the university was changed from
Bhagalpur University to Tilak Majhi University in
1991. The university has since developed its
existing infrastructure. The university derives
its name from a great Indian freedom fighter
Tilak Manjhi who in the 80s attacked the
oppressive British Government and later was
killed by the British Government.

CAMPUS
The campus is sprawling over 264 acres and is
fairly green. The campus is in the urban side of
Bhagalpur city. Moreover, the campus houses
facilities like sports arenas, library, academic
block, medical facilities, etc. The campus is
furthermore easily accessible as it is 2.2 KM
away from the nearest railway station and away
6.8 Km away from the Bhagalpur airport. One can
easily take a taxi or bus to the campus after
reaching the airport of the station.

COURSES OFFERED
The university offers courses on its campus and
through its constituents colleges and affiliated
colleges. Furthermore more it offers B.Ed courses
through its registered B.Ed colleges as well. The
courses available at the university are at UG,
PG, and Ph.D. levels. Some of the popular
courses available at the university are B.Ed,
BBA, MBA, BCA, B.LIb, M.A, MD, M.Sc, etc. the
fees of the courses are low as it is funded by
the government.

PLACEMENTS
The university has a student counseling and
placement cell which see that students are
placed. Moreover, the counseling cell also trains
and develops students. So that they fit the
fast-paced corporate environment. The highest
salary offered in the MBA batch of 2020 was 3.3
Lac. the B.Sc batch also secured similar
placements as the MBAs and the top salary of
B.com stood at 3.1 lac. Moreover, the salaries
saw a declining trend because of the present
covid-19 crisis.

Various ranking factors and parameters are at
play while ranking a college some of the most
important parameters are. The infrastructure o
the college, student to faculty ratio, faculty
knowledge base, and foreign and national students
ratio. Moreover, the university according to
online forums is the 17th best university in
Bihar out of 25 universities.

Infrastructure directly in one glance shows the
capability of a college. Proper infrastructure
coupled with adequate staff and teaching faculty

studies at the university the library consists of
398 manuscripts, 154928 print books, 8050 theses,
323 journals, 485 magazines, and 10233 books in
the reference section. furthermore, the library
provides plagiarism checking facilities. It has
moreover, a cyber library, INFLIBNET services,
and cubicles for independent research and
studies. Likewise, the library functions smoothly
as the in-charge professor heads it along with a
team of 31 members.

Medical Facility The medical facility available
at the university includes an MBBS doctor who
along with 8 other members takes care of the
total medical facility available at the
university. Moreover, the doctor attendants to
students, staff, members, teaching, and
non-teaching staff of the university. Medical
facility members also include a pharmacist and a
dresser. The total area of the medical facility
is 3500sqft. University Press The press at TMBUis
a rare facility available at the university. The
facility houses many types of equipment and a
team of 31 members combinedly operates. The press
has equipment like an offset machine, stitching
machine, computer with printers, cutting machine,
pastings facility, whirler, etc. Furthermore, the
press facility is not only available to the
university and its departments but also to its
constituent colleges.

Sports facilities Sports are exciting as ever at
the university. The university has a long history
and a long list of champions who have represented
and won many awards for the university on the
national level for the university. The university
has as many as 8 sports events which are there
each year, Moreover, the university has every
term appointed a national level or state
university level head coach every year for smooth
functioning of the university. Moreover, the
university has separate facilities for outdoor
sports like football, volleyball, cricket,
kho-kho, kabaddi, badminton, handball, and
Athletics. Likewise, separate facilities for
indoor sports like table tennis, chess, etc are
also available.
