ABOUT UNIVERSITY
Vikram University is one of the best public
research universities located in India. It is one
of the oldest and most reputed universities in
the country. Likewise, It got established in
1957 by the amended act of Vikram University
No.13, 1957. The Vikram University likewise also
consists of 57 affiliated government colleges and
130 affiliated private colleges. Hence, VU has

HISTORY
Firstly Vikram University was established in the
year 1957. Shri Ranchd Lalji Dhabai donated the
land for the university. Home Minister of India,
Shri Govind Vallabh Pant was the founder of this
university. Likewise, he sewed the seeds for the
foundation on 23 October, 1956. The Madya Pradesh
was formed in the year 1956 and then the
university was formed by the amended act of
Vikram University No.13, 1957. The university's
authority was reduced due to the formation of
Indore University and Bhopal University. Then, In
1973, the governor of Madhya Pradesh issued
permission to bring similarity of Madhya Pradesh
Universities. After this, VU's authority was
redefined. Also, due to the new authority of the
university some affiliated colleges were
decreased and some new colleges got affiliated to
the university.

is famous for its bachelor courses. Besides, its

INFRASTRUCTURE
Library The library of the university was
established in the year 1957. The first prime
minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru is the founder
of this library. The library was named as
Maharaja Uiwaji Rao Library. The library of this
college provides a perfect academic ambience for
the students to study without any disturbance.
Thus, the library has a rich collection of
1,60,856 books, 4800 backsets of periodicals.
Furthermore, the Library has 1645 Ph.D thesis,
6049 P.G. dissertations. The university's library
can be used by all the people of the university,
affiliated colleges and the society. In addition
to all these facilities, the library provides
services like Intern library loan, circulation,
reprographic, current awareness, micro film
reading facilities etc.

Hostel Since VU is a premier institution of
learning in India. Therefore, it witnesses
admissions of a large number of students from
India and abroad as well. That is why it provides
excellent hostel facilities for male and female
students across its campuses. Likewise, there are
four boys hostels which has 348 rooms and one
girls hostel which has 100 rooms on single and
sharing basis. Furthermore, there are two other
hostels for SC/ST students in the campus.
