What Is Woodworm?
Woodworm, also known as the furniture beetle, is
a general term used to describe wooden insect
pests that eat their way through the timber. The
name woodworm can also be used to describe the
adult beetle when it emerges from the timber
where it has been feeding on the sap and boring
galleries under the surface. Inside, the larvae
bore holes making galleries, eating their way
through to the underside of the timber, and come
out as adult beetles.The boring of tunnels by
insects in wood can make the wood significantly
weaker.
