Joel Iwataki was born in New York City in 1951
and he was very young, nineteen years old, when
he left his school. He became a commercial
fisherman in Alaska.

Joel Iwataki worked there and then he returned to
California to study music at the Grove School in
Los Angeles and composition and orchestration. He
studied them from the film composers ìAlbert
Harris and Richard Markowitz. He is a known
award-winning music composer and mixer.

Joel Iwataki considers Elliot Goldenthal his
greatest mentor since he taught Joel several
things related to music industry. Elliot
Goldenthal has mixed over 150 scores high points
in his career.

Joel Iwatakis work includesAlien3, Batman

for The Red Violin and more lately Start Trek
Into Darkness, Dawn of the Planet of The Apes,
Titus, Final Fantasy and the Oscar winning
