Cypress oil - An Oil Reminding Woody Wetlands!
2
Find its Effective Applications! Several
coniferous plants found in temperate regions,
that belong to the Cupressaceae family, are known
as cypress trees. They usually grow in wetlands,
soak up water and prevent soil erosion. Their
wood is used to make ships, statues, and coffins.
The tree also offers aromatic products -cypress
oil and cypress hydrosol.  Cypress essential oil
is extracted from the twigs, leaves, and stems of
cypress trees by steam distillation. It is dark
blue to bluish green thin liquid with the earthy,
woody, floral, smoky aroma of medium notes. The
initial notes of the oil are woody and softly
floral, followed by earthy floral notes similar
to helichrysum, and finally comes the delicate
undertones of fruity fig and sweet honey-like
notes. During this manufacturing process of oil,
cypress hydrosol is derived. Hydrosol is an
excellent skin cleanser and toner.
The oil is effective in various health conditions
such as cough, hemorrhoids, warts, cuts, wounds,
infections, acne pimples, varicose veins,
muscle pain, cellulite, body odour, and anxiety.
The method of use also plays a vital role in
deriving the wellness benefits of the oil. The
following are some suitable ways to use cypress
oil in different conditions.
3
1. Add a few drops of oil in hot water and
inhale the steam for 10-15 minutes to get relief
from cough. Alternatively, diffuse the oil in a
diffuser. 2. Mix 2-3 drops of the oil with 2-3
drops of jojoba oil and apply it to warts. The
same blend can be applied to acne, pimples, cuts,
wounds, and infections. 3. Dilute 4-5 drops of
the oil with 7-8 ml sesame oil and gently massage
this blend on sore muscles and varicose veins to
relieve pain. It stimulates blood circulation,
reduces fluid retention, and strengthens vein
walls. 4. Cypress oil can be applied on the
underarms, wrist, and neck as a body mist to keep
away body odour. 5. Use it as a fragrant
ingredient in homemade soaps and washes. 6. Add
it to the skincare regime, dilute a drop or two
in the daily night cream or make a scrub with
sugar, coffee powder, and jojoba oil to
rejuvenate the skin . 7. Blend a few drops of the
oil into the almond oil and apply it to the roots
of the hair and hair strands to make them glossy
and strong.
4
A cautionary Note Cypress oil is not suitable
for ingestion. As it is highly concentrated, its
dilution with carrier oils such as sweet almond,
jojoba, olive, sesame, or argan oil is advised by
the cypress essential oil manufacturers to avoid
any harm.
