Are You Residing In Coastal Areas? Heres All You
Should Know About Water Damage!

Water Damage
For the people living in coastal areas like Punta
Gorda and Bonita Springs, floods are not
something they havent been affected by. Its
examples include water damage in Punta Gorda due
to a flood in Sep 2017. Though water damage can
happen due to a variety of reasons like
hurricanes, burst pipes, etc., the flood is the
main culprit among them. Irrespective of the
reason, fixing the water damage by calling a
company that offers water damage repair in Bonita
Springs is very important to ensure residents
safety and to reduce the damage caused.

Categories of Water Damage There are three
categories of water damage as per the intensity.
And for each category, theres a separate method
of restoration. Category 1 The water in this
category is generally potable water that has been
caused by broken pipes, supply lines, sprinkler
systems, or the melting of snow. This water
doesnt immediately pose health risks, but when
theyre exposed outside for a long time, they may
get contaminated or infected and pose a health
risk. Category 2 These are the water that is
spilled out due to leaking of storage tanks and
are called gray water. These are untreated water
and are usually used for washing clothes. So,
they may cause health problems, including
diseases. Though, this water cant be dangerous
unless drunk, as it contains a few
bacteria. Category 3 It contains the most
contaminated water, filled with bacteria and
disease-causing germs. These are the water from
raw sewage and are called black water. Examples
of floods from this water category include
damages caused by hurricane Katrina.

Classes of Water Damage Classes of water damage
indicate the severity of the damage that has been
caused due to flood or other reasons. Class 1
This is the least severe category, and these are
caused by reasons including leaky tank or leaky
toilet. These are small amounts of water that
cannot seep through due to the concreted floor
and needs to be removed. Class 2 This class of
water damage is caused by the same water amount
as class 1, but the only difference is that the
floor is more porous. Its example includes a
burst water line behind drywall. Class 3 This
damage requires the highest level of evaporation
for the water to be removed as it has been soaked
by the highly porous material. Examples include
water spilled on the carpet. Class 4 This is
the most severe category and requires expert
handling. In this, the amount of water is really
big and is trapped in a way that is very
difficult to remove unless special equipment is
used.
