A Guide about Migraine Symptoms Triggers and
Treatments by My Migraine Life
Introduction
Migraines are a painful and debilitating disorder
that can make you feel sick, exhausted and unable
to function normally for days or even weeks after
the headache begins. They can be so severe that
people with migraines often have to take time off
from work. But there is hope!
Migraine triggers come in all shapes and sizes
food allergies, emotions such as stress or
anger, biological factors like hormone levels or
hormonal changes during pregnancyand yes,
even your genes may play some role in your risk
for migraines. However, it's important to note
that not everyone who experiences migraine
symptoms has them because of an underlying
medical condition many people simply have "bad
luck" when it comes down to timing their
headaches with their menstrual cycles (or lack
thereof). While no one knows exactly what causes
migraines in anyone else (except possibly our
ancestors back before they had medicines), there
are steps we can take today if we know the signs!
Migraine Symptoms
Migraines are a type of headache that can be
painful and debilitating. They're usually
triggered by food, stress and lack of sleep.
Migraine sufferers may experience
? Sensitivity to light or sound ? Extreme
sensitivity to smells (olfactory) ? Vision
disturbances such as seeing stars and flashing
lights ? Headache pain that lasts for hours or
days at a time (called migraine pain)
Migraine Triggers
? Stress.

? Lack of sleep. ? Hormonal changes, such as
menstruation or pregnancy. ? To o much caffeine
and alcohol intake. ? Food triggers (red meat,
cheese) that may trigger migraines in some people
but not others this is a subject for further
research but there are many sources online
that suggest a link between certain foods and
migraines so it's worth investigating
further before you begin your diet plan! ?
Environmental factors such as weather changes,
bright lights and loud noises can also be
triggers for migraines as well as excessive
hunger which could lead to overeating -
try eating smaller meals throughout the day
instead if possible!
Migraine Treatments
Migraine treatments are different for every
person, but there are many options available.
Some of the most common migraine medications
include
? Imitrex (sumatriptan) This medication is used
to treat migraines with aura. It works
by blocking serotonin in your body so that you
don't experience pain from your migraines. You
will usually take a tablet once daily or two
tablets up to six hours apart. ? Maxalt
(rizatriptan) This medication is used to treat
migraines without aura and helps reduce the
number of attacks you have each month by 50.
It's also known as rizatriptan succinate/maxalt
10 mg, rizatriptan 5 mg/20 mg chewable-tablet
combination product and zolmitriptan injection USP
If you have migraines, learn more about how to
manage them.
If you have migraines, its important to know
that they are common. Migraine is the most common
form of headache and can be disabling for people
with chronic migraine. There are things that you
can do to help prevent migraines from happening
or make them less severe when they do occur.
If your doctor thinks that you have a serious
illness called migraine aura (which affects about
20 percent of people with migraines), he or she
will recommend medication that can help
prevent these headaches from coming back after an
attack endsbut this medicine does not cure
them forever.
