term hypnosis comes from the Greek word ypnos,
which means sleep, and this has caused a
misbelief that when you are hypnotized youre
unconscious and asleep. This is simply not the
case. Once you are under hypnosis, you enter a
deeply relaxed state, but you are in fact awake
and aware of everything around you.

It is true that when you are in a hypnotic state
you become more susceptible to suggestions, and
this where is autosuggestion comes to work.
Autosuggestion, also known as autogenic training,
is a means by which you can train your
subconscious mind to focus on and be open to what
is being heard. When trying to improve yourself,
this is a good way to get past the mental
barriers and doubts that can hold us back from
accomplishing our aim or goals. Those concerned
about being hypnotized and made to do some kind
of thing they do not want to do need not worry,

environment for self-hypnosis, which generally

Ending the hypnotic state
After about 5 or 7 minutes of imagining the
goal-directed imagery, it is time to exit the
hypnotic state. A hypnotized person will do this
by breathing deeply and slowly while imagining
more energy entering the body with each and every
breath. They may also use a countdown from 5 or
10 to help them exit the hypnotic state. When
they feel prepared, they will slowly open their
eyes.
