What is the big idea?
Welcome to Sansad the Policy Parliament, where
we provide you with a unique opportunity to draft
India's first model Digital Competition Act.
The Act will govern India's digital market space
- a relatively new territory in the policy
landscape.
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs appointed
Committee on Digital Competition Law (CDCL)
started consultations to draft the Bill in March
2023. To support this effort, we invite teams to
Sansad '23 to draft a model Bill which will be
tabled before relevant officials before the
Parliament's Monsoon Session.
Event dates 3-4 June, 2023

Prohibition of anti-competitive practices 3.
Regulation of digital markets 4. Competition
advocacy consumer protection 5. Enforcement
remedies 6. International cooperation
As part of the application, teams must indicate
three preferred Chapters to potentially
research. After being shortlisted, our Research
Team will assign one Chapter and questions/
prompts per team to research and prepare
provisions. Teams will present and deliberate
upon their researched provisions at the event.

Meet and interact with experts and elected
officials on the Digital Competition Act of
India. Draft India's first model Digital
Competition Bill, developed by teams of young
policy enthusiasts and experts. Opportunity to
present the draft Bill's provisions to
high-ranking officials associated with the CDCL,
CII, and FICCI. Foster a deeper understanding of
the Digital Competition Act and its implications
for India's digital economy. Best performing
teams and speakers to win prizes. Participating
certificates for all participating teams.

how to participate? Eligibility Public
polic/law/technology/social science UG PG
students, researchers and academics, allied
working professionals eg., lawyers and tech
consultants. Selection To participate, teams
must submit an abstract of no more than 600 words
on "Will the Digital Competition Act hinder
innovation and growth in the Indian startup
ecosystem?" Teams size 3-4 members. You may
apply as an individual or pair in case a 3rd or
4th member is not available. Shortlisted
individuals or pairs will be grouped by the
Research Team into teams of 3 or 4 based on their
preferred Chapters and informed at the earliest.
