Introduction
The topic of human rights in India may come up.
But first, let me ask you a question Are Indians
familiar with the history of human rights? Or do
you know that on December 10 is "Human Rights
Day"? Why does that matter? Why is it a holiday?
Do all people have the same rights?

Human Rights What Are They?
Human rights have a huge influence on our
society. As humans, we all have the right to
certain levels of dignity, acceptance, and
freedom in India, these fundamental freedoms are
referred to as human rights. Human rights in
India have recently been under increased scrutiny
on all fronts.

Human Rights Definition
Human rights, as defined by Dr. Durga Das, are
those freedoms that every person has a right to
enjoy in opposition to their government and other
public authorities simply by virtue of being a
part of the human race. With this definition, he
attempts to highlight the fundamental meaning of
the phrase "human rights" in India.
5
History of human rights and the Human Rights
Commission
Rights are those groups of freedoms that persons
need to survive and lead dignified lives. The
heart of Human Civilization is found in the idea
of "Human Rights in India." Speaking of the
Historical Background of Human Rights in India,
it was first mentioned in 539 BC. Every person
had to work really hard during that time to
achieve their ultimate aim, which is still seen
in many societies today.

WHY AND HOW IMPORTANT ARE HUMAN RIGHTS?
There have been numerous discussions in recent
years on how we should approach and implement
these basic rights. Having a thorough
understanding of human rights can help with many
of their particular issues. Every person's life
is impacted by these rights, and using them all
enables an individual to build the society of his
or her choice.

The Human Right Act in India has major issues and
challenges
1
One of the growing problems is violence against
women, who are particularly vulnerable to sexual
assault, human trafficking, and even forced
labour.
2
We often claim that our country's future lies
with its youngsters. Approximately 17.5 million
people are employed in numerous hazardous sectors
and companies.

Human Rights vs. Fundamental Rights vs. Legal
Rights
Human Rights
Fundamental Rights
Legal Rights
Contrarily, human rights are the protections that
a person looks for to live with respect and
equality.
Legal rights are the safeguards provided by the
state to its citizens.
Citizens' fundamental rights are those that are
guaranteed by the constitution and upheld by the
law.
The core idea of the right to freedom is a
prerequisite for all other rights. A decent
living is a fundamental component of human rights.
Legal rights are not contained in the
Constitution but are clearly defined by different
governments.
Fundamental rights vary from country to country
since they are nation-specific. Human rights are
acknowledged on a global scale.
