29 After this manner therefore pray ye Our Father
which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy
kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is
in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily
bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive
our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil For thine is the
kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen. 14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses,
your heavenly Father will also forgive you 15
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses,
neither will your Father forgive your
trespasses. Matthew 69-15 (KJV)
3THE ATHEISM OF NOT PRAYING
4I would like to ask us 5 questions today
5 How much do we pray?
6 How much do we pray? How much have we prayed
today?
7 How much do we pray? How much have we prayed
today? How real and vital is prayer in our
daily life?
8 How much do we pray? How much have we prayed
today? How real and vital is prayer in our
daily life? Do we, like Daniel, have a time and
a place for prayer?
9 How much do we pray? How much have we prayed
today? How real and vital is prayer in our
daily life? Do we, like Daniel, have a time and
a place for prayer? Do we know what it is to
live in an atmosphere of prayer, to pray without
ceasing?
10 From time immemorial prayer has been a part of
life.
11 From time immemorial prayer has been a part of
life. Men have prayed in many places.
12Jonah prayed in the deep Peter prayed on the
housetop Hezekiah prayed on the bed Hagar
prayed in the wilderness like Jarius prayed in
the street Paul and Silas prayed in jail Jesus
prayed in the Garden People pray in the assembled
congregation as we do week by week.
13Men have prayed at all different times In the
morning like David At midnight like Silas In
childhood like Samuel As a young person like
Timothy In manhood like the Centurion In old age
like Simeon In sickness like Job, at death like
Jacob.
14I am absolutely sure there are some praying today
in Louisiana
15In times of war and peace In times of sorrow and
joy In times of adversity and prosperity In times
of famine and plenty In times of distress and
delight. Under all and any sort of
circumstances. People reach out to God in prayer
16Peter prayed a simple three word prayer But when
he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid and
beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save
me. Matthew 1430 (KJV)
17The Publican Prayed a 7 word prayer And the
publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so
much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his
breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
Luke 1813(KJV)
18And men have prayed long prayers like Solomons
prayer at the consecration of the temple
19 It is by prayer we are brought into the presence
of God.
20 It is by prayer we are brought into the presence
of God. It is by prayer we are enabled to think
Gods thoughts.
21 It is by prayer we are brought into the presence
of God. It is by prayer we are enabled to think
Gods thoughts. It is by prayer our hearts
become tender
22 It is by prayer we are brought into the presence
of God. It is by prayer we are enabled to think
Gods thoughts. It is by prayer our hearts
become tender It is by prayer our will becomes
more responsive.
23 It is by prayer we are brought into the presence
of God. It is by prayer we are enabled to think
Gods thoughts. It is by prayer our hearts
become tender It is by prayer our will becomes
more responsive. It is by prayer we remember God.
24If we get an education we will get all the
benefits of education if we apply ourselves.
25If we get an education we will get all the
benefits of education if we apply ourselves. If
we learn human ingenuity we benefit from what
human ingenuity can do.
26If we get an education we will get all the
benefits of education if we apply ourselves. If
we learn human ingenuity we benefit from what
human ingenuity can do. If learn science we get
what modern science can do.
27But when we learn prayer we get all that God can
do and that is much.
28 But what is prayer? Is it only for
emergencies?
29Is prayer to humble ourselves? No. The
heathens do that.
30Is to prayer to inform God? No. God knows
everything.
31Is prayer to change Gods mind? NO That says
that God didnt have the right attitude.
32Jesus is our example in prayer. Jesus loved
prayer. He was a man of prayer.
33He prayed in the wilderness. He prayed as He
performed miracles. He often prayed all night.
34He prayed at the grave of Lazarus. He prayed at
Gethsemane. He prayed on the cross.
35Jesus was constantly in prayer. He is our
example in prayer.
36If Jesus was prefect and had to pray, how much
more do you and I, who are sinful, need to pray?
37If Jesus, who had all power, needed to pray, how
much more do we, who have no power, need to pray?
38God rejoices to hear us pray, but the devil
trembles to hear us.
39Someone has said Satan trembles when he sees the
weakest saint upon his knees. Why does Satan
tremble? Because he knows that nothing defeats
him like prayer.
40Bible study is just a Bible study until its
prayed over. Then it becomes powerful. Singing
is just singing until it is prayed over and
prayed about, but then it becomes powerful. A
sermon is just a sermon until it is seasoned with
prayer, and then it becomes a powerful, powerful
message
41Satan knows that nothing defeats him like prayer.
He knows that prayer will defeat him and break
up his plans.
42So then Why Dont We Pray?
43So then Why Dont We Pray? Because somehow or
other we dont believe that feeble mortals could
cry out and that cry could enter into the ears of
the creator of heaven and earth.
44So then Why Dont We Pray?
We dont believe that an infinite God can be
moved by the entreaties of sinful man.
45So then Why Dont We Pray?
We dont believe that Him before angels veil
their faces could so simply supply our needs.
46So then Why Dont We Pray?
We dont believe that by prayer, the armies of
heaven could be called to arms.
47So then Why Dont We Pray?
We dont believe that the powers of evil can be
restrained.
48But the Bible says
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show
thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest
not. Jeremiah 333 (KJV)
49But the Bible says
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore
will I deliver him I will set him on high,
because he hath known my name. He shall call
upon me, and I will answer him I will be with
him in trouble I will deliver him, and honour
him. Psalms 9114-15 (KJV)
50But the Bible says
Delight thyself also in the LORD and he shall
give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalms
374 (KJV)
51But the Bible says
Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you,
That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be
thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea and
shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe
that those things which he saith shall come to
pass he shall have whatsoever he saith. Mark
1122-23 (KJV)
52Yet for all the promises of the Word of God we
are not moved into a consistent prayer life!
53Yet for all the promises of the Word of God we
are not moved into a consistent prayer life!
We are exercising a Atheistic Spirit when we lose
our prayer life
54Yet for all the promises of the Word of God we
are not moved into a consistent prayer life!
Atheists dont believe in God Atheists dont
believe in the power God Atheists dont believe
in the power of prayer
55Yet for all the promises of the Word of God we
are not moved into a consistent prayer life!
We exercise an Atheistic Spirit when we dont
pray!
56Yet for all the promises of the Word of God we
are not moved into a consistent prayer life!
Prayer is a work of faith We have faith in God We
have faith in the power of God So we pray
57Yet for all the promises of the Word of God we
are not moved into a consistent prayer life!
To not Pray is to deny faith We have no faith in
God We have no faith in the power of God When we
dont pray
58Think about all that prayer has done Prayer has
divided seas Prayer has stopped raging
rivers Prayer has brought streams out of flinty
rocks Prayer has has opened up barren
wombs Prayer has has restrained the fury of
lions Prayer has has quenched fires
59Think about all that prayer has done Prayer has
stopped poisonous snakes Prayer has has marshaled
the stars of heaven to battle Prayer has stopped
the flight of the sun in its course Prayer has
burst open gates of iron Prayer has summoned the
dead from the tomb
60If we want to see revival it will only come
through prayer
The world has a saying Put your money where your
mouth is
61If we want to see revival it will only come
through prayer
I have a new saying for you today Put your knees
where your mouth is
62If we want to see revival it will only come
through prayer
If you cant put prayers of faith into action Then
there is no room for dissatisfaction
63If we want to see revival it will only come
through prayer
Because you are exercising a Christian Form of
atheism by not praying
64If you hadnt prayed, you wouldnt be as far as
you are right now. There are great consequences
if we dont pray. There are great results if we
do pray.
65 If we dont pray we are admitting, at least in
our spirits and in our heart, that we are
atheists. Because we dont believe in the power
or moving of God
66But when we do pray we are joining ourselves with
the great power that created the universe and
that controls the universe. God help us to
pray on and on and on.
