Why Triple Helix ?
  • Starting from a deep analysis of the current
    situation in the Regions involved, partners
    emphasised the following needs
  • Innovating SMEs
  • Stimulating new forms of entrepreneurship
  • Strengthening and coordinating cooperation
    between different local players (Public
    Autorithies, University, Business)
  • Facilitating SMEs access to financial support

Targets
  • Considering the evaluation of the actual
    situation, TH aims to
  • Create an effective and highly useful model for
    successful cooperation between the four different
    players
  • Increase interest and engagement between the
    local players
  • Facilitate access to financial resources to
    stimulate innovative start-ups
  • Improved cross border cooperation in a long term
    perspective

  • Define a flexible model that can easily be
    applied to various contexts and situations

Project phases
  • Research (autumn 2004)
  • Best practices identification and model
    elaboration (Due in Spring 2006)
  • Model transfer and dissemination of results
  • Closing Conference (June 2006)

At the end of the project
  • We organised several interregional meetings
    involving different players
  • We published a Final Model structured in two
    parts a theoretical introduction and a more
    practical part with SWOT synthesis and sulution
    suggestions
  • The Model contains also a collection of best
    practice cases to be used by local players in
    order to better address policy and strategies
    definition
