- Record must have a call number the record cant
be locked - Label formats
- SL4 (default) Spine label and two four-line
pocket labels - SL6 Spine label and two six-line pocket labels
- SLB Spine label and one four-line pocket labels
- SL1 Spine label only
- Text of label cant be saved
- Print label immediately, or
- Print edited label to a text file, or
- Edit call number field and save (you can also
print right away) print a list from save file
via command, or via batch

5Editing labels
- Edit displayed label, or, edit bibliographic
record - Typical edits
- Add a call number, edit the existing call number,
or suppress the call number - Type input stamp(s) in brackets in the Holding
Library Code field (049), or add to
settings/options to print automatically - Add a DDC class number (from 082 a)
- Insert a Dewey Cutter number (from 092 b)
- Edit text in the author (1xx a, b, d) or
title (245 a) fields that supply the information
for the label content

automatically add the same edits you make for the
pocket 1 to the pocket 2 label

Edit the 050/090 for LC call numbers, 082/092 for
Dewey, 099 for other formats Use 049 for
automatic stamps or through option under Tools
- After sending print command

- 1. On the Batch menu, click Process Batch, or
ltAltgtltBgtltPgt - 2. In the Local Files list, click check boxes to
select the local file(s) you want to process - The default local bibliographic and authority
save files are marked with a red check mark. - Select as many local files as you want to
process. All files you select are processed at
once. - 3. Under Process, select Label Printing
15Label format tied to OCLC profile
- If multiple schemes in Bib record, the label that
prints is tied to authorization number and
holding library profile - Hierarchy of fields taken for label generation,
for example, if Library of Congress is profiled - 1st 099

- For offline cataloging (including labels) set
profile in tools?options?general
16Dewey issues
- Print a DDC class number and add a Cutter number
to a label - Dewey Decimal Call Number appears in field 082
- If your OCLC authorization number is set up to
use Dewey, an empty field 092 (Locally Assigned
Dewey Call Number) is inserted when you retrieve
a record from WorldCat or the online
bibliographic save file. - When you take an action on the record (e.g.,
Update or Validate) the data in 082 a moves to
the 092 field

- To complete the Dewey call number, you can enter
an item number (Cutter number) in 092 b or use
one of the OCLC Dewey Cutter macros provided with
the client to determine a Cutter number and
insert it in 092 b automatically - The OCLC Four-Figure Cutter Tables are revised
and expanded versions of - Cutter Three-Figure Author Table
