About STI

• Develops and maintains health care solution for
  women and childrens needs
• I was in charge of developing a new interface
  from scratch for labor and delivery department

Shortcoming of present interface

• Reports were static
• Time was wasted in configuration and maintenance
• IT staff was needed in the hospital to run this
  interface
• User Interface was not user friendly

Our solution

• Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) was brought to solve
  the configuration problem
• Reports to be made dynamic with drag and drop
  functionality
• Web application (intranet) so that person with
  minimum computer knowledge can operate the
  interface, for e.g. nurse

• STI wanted open source
• Wanted quick results
• Google Web toolkit and Chainbuilder ESB were both
  open source and both had a powerful plugin in
  Eclipse
• Agile Software Development practices were used

Research Problem

• Manual Generation of User Interface is static,
  tedious and human error prone. A solution to this
  problem is Metadata based generation of UI for
  certain classes
