• Hey Everyone!
• I am glad to see you here today!
• Today you will practice writing by using your
  imagination and brainstorming.
• Make up your own fiction story.

• Journal Writing of the Day
• (Answer the questions below in your journal
  notebook)

• Remember Maxs Imagination?
• Was it really Max the one imagining monsters or
  was it Maurice Sendak?
• Do you think Maurice Sendack used his pictures to
  help him imagine the story?

Brainstorming

• You need to generate your own ideas.
• How can you do that?
• Use your imagination when you
• Make drawings of things that you would like to
  hear a story about
• List key thoughts to go with them

Drawing

• Draw something that you think is unreal.
• Think about how you can make a creature that you
  draw a character in your story.
• Use primary and secondary colors, and shapes.
• Look at the pictures Maurice Sendack drew.
• You can draw your own imaginary world.

Listing Key Thoughts

• Make at least 3 lists of thoughts that you
  generate.
• The more lists you have the better because then
  you will have more to select from.
• Let your imagination grow, write about the
  unthinkable.
• Each of your lists have to include a problem that
  will be told in the story (ex. a character might
  have a problem like Max did).

Write

• Start writing your introduction.
• Remember that nobody knows the story that you are
  trying to tell.
• You need to give an explanation for many things.
• Identify the characters in the story and the
  problem.

cycle below this is what your imagination should
follow. After you write you should make your
drawings even more detailed.
